Sorry for the delay. I didn't look in this thread right away because I thought Ed had just transferred addictions (smoking to bingo) :)
Anyway... heartiest Congrats, Bingo! A year of freedom from smoking is just plain miraculous, and should be celebrated as such!

Pat, there are no benefits to smoking. There are just detriments and lies.
If you want to go back to smoking, that's your choice to make. But if you do, don't tell yourself that the smoking will give you something worthwhile, because it won't. Tell yourself, "Smoking will destroy my life, and that is what I'm returning to; my own destruction"
What do you have to weigh? Your enslavement and destruction vs. your freedom and a longer, healthier life? What about the example you set for those you love?
You were never intended to smoke. Your body and mind weren't made for that.
There is no reason to go back. There was no reason to become a smoker in the first place, but now you know better. You can do this. You can turn it around.
The pain of adjustment won't last. You've come this far, so now go the rest of the way.
We're here.

7 days is HUGE, Dawya!! And yes, there will be craves for a while, but think positive, spend a lot of time here with us... and a day at a time, you'll slowly leave the craves behind!
Congratulations on getting through that first week! If you can do that, you can do whatever is required!

Bubba, wherever you are, I know there's no smoking allowed.
Not since you showed up anyway! :)
Thanks for sharing the hope. Now we'll do the same.
