Anyone who's been smoke-free for more than, say... 6 months who can tell me if they experienced benefits to their health later in their quits, that weren't apparent in the first month or two?
In terms of lung function, has it been your experience that whatever benefit you experience in the first month or two... is basically what you're going to get? Or does that improve more with time?
And to answer the mods, in advance, yes... I know that it's different for different people. :)

Thanks, all! I appreciate your willingness to share your experience.
Changing, I'm not where I'd like to be.
I usually get enough oxygen, but I can't fully exhale. Sometimes I'll be talking and I'll just run out of breath, preventing me from completing the sentence. I know this can be an early symptom of emphysema. so I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similiar.
I don't get winded from walking up the block... and my energy does seem to be increasing, but I am somewhat concerned about my inability to fully exhale.

Thanks, Danielle. I'll do that, probably next week. I get some time off at Easter Break.

Peter, if you stopped smoking for 5 years... you can stop smoking again, and with even better success.
So? What are we waiting for? Let's get this show on the road! :)

Congrats on reaching 3digitsville, Eva!! That's no small feat!
I'm sure that at 125 days you've become very aware that quitting is its own reward... but do something special anyway. It can't hoit! :)

Melanie, I just wanted you to know that I appreciated your sharing that.
I hope that your husband has much success with his quit, and if a few rewards help to reinforce that success, then I think it's a heck of a good idea! :)
