Last night was just terrible!

Hey, you're doing great! Remember, this is hell week and you CAN get through it, one crave at a time (distract, delay, sleep, do whatever works!!). The next crave will be no harder than the one you just made it through, just ride the wave and know that it WILL pass! If you quit last Friday, then you are working on your sixth day right now (tonight at midnight your counter will switch to six days) and when you COMPLETE Friday (tomorrow) then you will have seven full days under your belt. Did that make sense?!? :)

This was really cool.

Today at work the weather was nice so we opened the windows and doors. This afternoon it started to rain, and my co-worker (who quit three days after I did) came out and stood in the doorway saying, Smell that! Can you smell that?! I love that smell! I said to her, Millie, it always smells like that when it first starts to rain. She looked like she was gonna disagree with me and then it dawned on her. I couldnt smell it! She was so amazed. This smell, it brings back memories of my childhood! Oh my God, all this time, I couldnt smell it! Our other co-worker (who still smokes) looked sad and said (kinda defensively), I can smell it! Millie and I just looked at each other and smiled. Not like THIS, you cant. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 955 Amount Saved: $93 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 6 Mins: 38 Seconds: 17

In my dream...

Danielle, Phil, & Dutch Thanks so much for your input! Your posts made me feel normal (instead of like the whacked-out-basket-case Ive been feeling like)! And to my fellow dreamers: KiwiKeith, omg after 123 days quit and youre still having dreams?! Okay, well, it helps to know that this kinda thing might still be happening months from now, so at least maybe I can be prepared for it better! Rainie, LOL, your poor husband mustve been truly mystified about what hed done wrong to set you off! But yeah! Thats how real this dream seemed! Imallclear, ROFL!!! I actually snorted when I read your post! Too funny! * * * * * * * * * * * * A quick update Today is Wednesday and Im just now getting past and beyond the whole emotional thing. I spent most of Monday crying, so much so that my contact lenses were all foggy by bedtime. I was a bit better yesterday but it wasnt until this afternoon that I really felt more like myself. Is this going to come and go? Can I expect this to happen again? I did have one neat outcome from the whole thing. One of my co-workers, C., stayed late this evening and we got to talking and I told her about my horrible day on Monday. This led to a conversation about my quitting smoking. She was asking me questions about it, so I told her about this site and some of the stuff Id learned here. After about 10 minutes of this topic, I said to her, Lets continue this outside so you can smoke. She laughed and looked at me like how-did-you-know. It aint been that long, honey, I still remember what it was like whenever someone brought up the topic of quitting it always made me want one! We talked for another 15 minutes outside and she was VERY interested! She wanted to know how bad the craves were and how Id been handling them, stuff like that. When we walked back inside, she said (and this is so cool) I want to quit, I know I want to quit. In the next few weeks, keep telling me stuff, I want to hear more so that I can get to that place where I want to quit more than I want to smoke. Is that cool or what!!! It's Official! I can never be around cig smoke again
It usually doesn't hold...
My point (though I'm apparently not a "smart cookie" yet) is that it doesn't seem very supportive nor encouraging to devalue whatever it is that is keeping a 2-day quit QUIT. In response to the information that tryagain was sharing, you said, "It really doesn't matter what they add or don't add to tobacco..." Again, your words devalued and dismissed the information that was shared (information which I found quite interesting, by the way). Had I received that kind of response on the 2nd day of my quit from a person with 1,851 smoke-free days under their belt, I would have turned tail and ran. But that's me. I do not disagree with the statement, "Ya gotta wanna," in fact, I agree with it wholeheartedly. I've seen your posts all over the place and 99% of the time your words are supportive and caring and encouraging. I just did not agree with devaluing whatever thought processes one individual is utilizing to stay quit, that's all. Tryagain, best wishes on your quit. Newbie here

Welcome, LM! I know what you're saying about the driving thing, that was a tough one for me, too. I've ALWAYS smoked when I drove - since I was 16 - so literally ALWAYS. Don't let that "if" creep in and make itself at home! There is no IF! You are NOT going to slip! You'll be successful! :) PS I quit as a New Year's gift to myself, too! A day in the life of a nonsmoker.

Okay, warning ahead of time this is kinda long. but it has a point. Honest. Today we flew from Tampa to Houston, then from Houston to Kansas City, Missouri. There were four of us my coworker/friend and her husband, and me and my husband. This is the coworker/friend that said she was going to quit smoking on New Years and didnt. She and her husband still smoke. Heres what our day was like - Alarm went off at 6:30. Got up to make sure the kids were awake for school and to say our goodbyes before they left. - Airport shuttle was due to arrive at 8:40. Suitcases packed and out on the front porch, Hubby and I sat down to relax and drink a leisurely cup of coffee at about 8:10. Shuttle arrived early at 8:30, but, no biggie, we were ready. - Sat through two more stops on the way to the airport. Did not fret or fidget because of the hour-long shuttle ride, just enjoyed the fact that someone else was doing the driving. - Checked our luggage at curbside. Airline guy joked with us and made us laugh. We tipped him well and made him smile. - Hubby was hungry and we were early (airport shuttles always get you there way early) so we went to TGI Fridays for breakfast. (I had no idea they had a breakfast menu, but they do! At least at the airport they do.) - Got a frantic call from coworker. Were still on our way, well be there soon! We smiled because for once it wasnt us that was running late, and went back to eating our breakfast. - Finished breakfast and went to the airside. The line for security was very long, but we werent stressed about it, after all, what can we do, its out of our control. We snaked through the line with everyone else and it didnt actually take long to get through to the other side. - Boarded the plane. It was completely booked and we were all packed in there like sardines, but whats new about that. Our friends were in the row behind us and were on the plane when we got on (her husband has a disability and so since he was riding in a wheelchair, they sailed past us through security). We got settled in and as usual, I fell asleep before we even took off. - Woke up about a half hour later and stayed awake for the rest of the flight. Didnt fidget, felt relaxed.[/b

Amount 'Saved'

I bought a new purse too! Ya know why? Because I reached down to the bottom of my old one to scrounge for change and came up with a handful of tobacco. EWWWWWWW!!
