Time just stops.

Does anyone else have trouble at times to actually do anything while quitting? I have failed so many times when trying to give up because it seems to be if I can't have a cigarette when I've finished doing a job then I can't seem to make myself get up and do anything. I've got further now than I ever have. I'm not so bad when I'm with people. But when I'm on my own I have so much that needs doing, housework etc, but I end up sitting wishing the time away. Or if I start something I really don't want to stop. I really dread stopping. I've been ok this weekend, but when the kids are at school and OH is at work and I'm stuck on my own I just hope that I can move and do something! Claire x

Uh Oh

I think the patches only help but the main part of giving up is your own state of mind. I have tried in the past to give up with patches on and yet I've still taken them off and had a cigarette after a day or two. This time I haven't. I just won't let myself. Today I went down to step 2. Well done peteg :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 339 Amount Saved: 71.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 7 Seconds: 56

This morning...

Hi Treyya I got a sinus infection a few days ago. I know just how you feel. I have been cough, cough, cough as well. Does everyone have a bad chest or cold like symptoms when giving up? I read somewhere that it's reccommended that you take vitamin C tablets when you quit. I didn't.. wishing I had. :) I hope you feel better soon, Treyya! :) Remember if you can get through this when you do feel better it won't be as bad. Good luck. :)

Time just stops.

Hi thanks for all your messages! I'm glad I'm not on my own. I haven't had a bad day. I managed to do some bits and pieces.. then I sat and had a cuppa.. and found it hard to get going again. Sorry I forget to tick the 'show my Quit Meter' box. Lol @ Windy. I know what you mean that's a really good idea. :) Katy - You'll have to come over to mine first. :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 334 Amount Saved: 71.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 49 Seconds: 25

What is that smell??

Hi Sparky. :) That's a good idea about the elastic band! Excellent. Good luck with it. A month does go quickly once you get there. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 860 Amount Saved: 187 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 41 Seconds: 54

i smoked again

You can do it again! :) You'll be fine. I had a dream the other night I went to the shop, bought a packet of cigarettes, walked home and sat in my conservatory (Daren't go in there now ;) ) opened the cellophane and lit one up.. In my dream I was so shocked and annoyed with myself, I hadn't realised I was doing it. It was a very real dream - I inhaled.. ;D It made me feel really crap! I had really bad cravings for the next couple of days. I felt bad because I would have loved one.. I think what I'm saying is that we all want one even if we really don't and it's no use letting that part of you that wants one ruin all your hard work! :) Good Luck!! 25th November - Saturday's Celebrations

Mr Ed! Would you mind changing my date? I'm not sure how come it says 7th of Oct instead of Nov. Probably my fault! :) I feel a bit unfair getting my name further on than I am, if you know what I mean. I think you're fab for doing this Mr Ed. 40 Days -- A Spiritual Perspective

Thank you, Pete. I can completely relate to a lot of what you have said. I am finding it very hard to be happy with myself. In fact it seems harder in a way now than at the beginning when a day was a huge length of time and to get through it was amazing... but now it's the same as yesterday and tomorrow. But like you I'm not giving in. As Bingo said to me here once - (Forgive me Bingo, I may not use your exact words) I'd rather be a non-smoker with occasional pangs than a smoker who constantly craves to give up. I have to keep thinking of that. Thank you Bingo. :) Thank you Pete for reminding me that I'm not alone. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 860 Amount Saved: 187 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 43 Seconds: 3

Nearly 3 weeks!

I haven't been on here for a while but just wanted to let you know that I still haven't had one and I've thought of you at times going through the same feelings. With the money I saved I bought an i pod and now to help me keep moving in the day instead of sitting around moping and grieving (because lets face it that is what we are doing, even if we know that what we are missing isn't any good for us at all) I put my i pod on and dance around while I do all my work! It really helps, the exercise sends off happy hormones and the music blots out any cravings. I went out for a meal tonight for the first time. A birthday celebration. At times I found it hard but I have to say no craving I have had is as bad as going through those first few days. Now I am starting to realise that I'm not going to have a cigarette again but I worry that I am still missing it and not sure how I can find another feeling to replace it with. I don't know if anyone can understand what I'm trying to get at, lol. Take care everyone and good luck. You guys really helped me in the first few days, I thank you so much. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 496 Amount Saved: 104.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 42 Seconds: 26
