My quit date is also tomorrow, Tuesday, Election Day, so we can do it together....You are not alone....and neither am I! So many things I am worried about, mostly the edginess, I also have two kids, 14 and 11, and I want to see them grow up and see the grand babes some day. Good Luck to us!!!!!
Hello everyone. I'm so glad I found this sight. I've tried 4 other times to quit smoking, and tomorrow I'm going to give it a 5th try. I'm tired of the cough, bronchitis, the bouts with pneumonia every year and the shortness of breath. I really want to be free of this addiction once and for all. I've smoked since I was 23, and I currently smoke a pack a day.....my last quit was about six months ago, and I quit for three weeks. Congratulations to all of you who are currently 24 hours or more into your quit....anyone who has done this before knows how hard the first 2-3 days are....I'm going to use the patch, It's done ok for me in the past. Thanks for listening

Jess....in my past attempts, it helped when I got a craving to just wait 3-5 minutes and the craving should pass. I know all to well the stress of anxiety and moodiness can make us reach for a cig...but remember...the cig's chemicals actually make you more anxious and doesn't calm you....and the damage to our bodies isn't worth the fix.....you can do it!!!!! I'm day one....you are already at day 5......take it one hour at a time.

First, thank you to all who answered my post and also the instructions for the instant messenger....because I'm at work, I may only get on the instant messenger during lunch, but we will see. The support in here is wonderful, and I'm also blessed with a supporting husband.....a two very nagging children....who nag me to quit smoking every day....so far so good. Since this is my fifth time, I'm surprised that because I know what the first three days are like, I'm doing fairly well so far....actually better than I thought. I know all to well the pangs and cravings the first 48-72 hours.....so for now, I'm taking it one hour at a time...one craving at a time....I remember reading during one of my past attempts that if you just wait 5 minutes or so when a craving hits you, the craving will diminish. I have snacks and gum at my desk and I'm visualizing my lungs healing themselves from years of abuse. I can't wait until I can smell and taste again!!! Thanks again for listening...we can do this!!!!

This is only my first day, but my 5th time trying to quit...and I'm getting the same vibe. So far...so pretty good. Not nearly as bad as in the past...maybe because I knew what to expect. I did use Zyban one time, and honestly, that was my longest quit!!! It was so easy when my quit day came....my mistake was going off the zyban to early....so be careful when you go off the zyban...I've tried the zyban since then, and it didn't work the same way as it did that very first time. And maybe, you were just really really ready to quit this time...like I am. Good Luck to you....

Thank you so much 4my2girls....as I was reading your post, my supervisor (who smokes) came out and started talking to me and he had a cig in his hand and was going outside to smoke......I felt my face flush....I felt warm all over, but without any fuzzies, and it was sad to see the cigarette...it's like it's an old friend (even though I know it's no friend of any of us). He went outside, and I finished reading your post....and I'm over that craving. Thank you..thank you...thank you.......
