Someone please help....

You sound so much like me!! I was feeling what you feel, plus I could NOT got to sleep, or STAY asleep...even while taking prescribed sleep meds! I talked to my Doctor, and she gave me Wellbutrin (anti-depressant), and it has help GREATLY! She also changed my sleep meds, but the first few nights before the Wellbutrin took full effect...the sleep meds still didn't help! Please understand...that I have taken Wellbutrin & Zyban previously when *trying* to quit, but they just didn't work! But, this time...they have really helped with the irritability, and aggressive impulses! You might want to ask your Doctor for something to help calm your anxiety from the quit! Hope this helps! God Bless! How I deal with cravings!

I just joined today! I haven't gotten into the actually info packed website...I joined mainly to find people to *tow the line* with me, and help each other through the *temptations*! I've about reached a point where diverting my mind is easy when a *craving* strikes, and the cravings are NOT really hard to get over any more! But, at first...I kept telling my older sister (who has NEVER smoked in her 65 years) that the longer I went without a cigarette, the harder the craving hit! I was just about at the point to toss the idea, and go get a pack of cigarettes somehow! That has always been my breaking point with previous attempts to quit...but THIS time I took MANY showers that day! I fought the *urge* with every thing in me...and I BEAT it! Now the cravings are just little *flickers* that are far & few between, and I can divert my thoughts to something else and side track the cravings! My computer was my biggest hinderence! While on my computer, I would reach for a cigarette so automattically, that most of the time I didn't KNOW I was smoking them! But, I didn't let that stand in my way! While using my computer...I had a rubberband I put on my right wrist ( I always *reached* with my right), and every time I caught myself *reaching* (even though *nothing* was there)...I popped that rubberband on my wrist, hard enough to sting for a few minutes! The more I popped it, the longer I felt the sting, and the less frequent I would *reach* for it! I also keep saying to myself...I AM a NON smoker! I wish EVERY one good luck, and may success be YOURS! Hello! I'm new to the group!

Thanks Phil! I've never been to England, but I had a DEAR friend (she died in 2004) that was from Edinbourgh, Scotland, her name was Betty also (how I got the nickname Betty2), and she lived in Riverside, CA. She use to take trips back *home* every two years or so to see her family. One year her family came over from England...and what FUN I had getting to know them! I will be looking forward to getting to *know* you as well! Take care! Hello! I'm new to the group!

Thanks to every one who has replied! Right now I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the info available on this website, and I can't view it ALL at one time! I am doing real well right now...on my own, and I really want to keep it that way for now! But, it's nice to know the info is there in case I need it in the future! I mainly joined this group...just to have some *kindred spirits* to share in my plight to close the door on an *old friend* with negative issues where my health is concerned! It's so sad that this *true blue* friend that has *been there* to help me through *tough times* for so many years, has proven to be such a leach on my health! IF I can find new friends that are as *true blue* & dependable as Mr. Nicotine, but *smoke FREE*...I think I will make it just fine! Thanks again & God Bless! I ACED the Ultimate *test*!!!

My son & DIL came up from FL last night...and they BOTH smoke! I said yesterday that IF I could jump this *hurdle*, I could consider myself a NON smoker for *real*! Well...my son & DIL gave me due respect & consideration, and kept their smoking outside! But, this morning we went out for breakfast, and after we finished and got ready to leave...they both lit up while standing outside the car! Well, it DID bother NOT to the point I wanted one, but to the point the smell was making me sick to my stomach, which reinforced the *positive* of my quit! I haven't been quit very long, but, with what I have been through so far compared to previous attempts to quit...I can safely say that... I AM a NON smoker, AT LAST! A fantastic *graving* tool...

I found something that has helped me with the cravings... something BETTER than the lemon drops, or anything else I have used! It is Wrigley's *Extra* Green Apple gum! It has a *tartness* that soothes the craving & kills the urge! IF you have tried other things that haven't worked...TRY the Green Apple gum! It really does work! I'm glad to be back online! I'll post again later! Hi ALL! I'm finally back online!

It's been a tough few months, since I made my move from GA to FL...but, I have survived, and life it a LOT better for me now! I have to admit...I went through a very stressful first month after my move, and I stumbled & fell off the *wagon* for a month! But, as SOON as I got my own place, I laid them down again, jumped back on the *wagon* and haven't looked back! I also found something that has helped me with the cravings... something BETTER than the lemon drops, or anything else I have used! It is Wrigley's *Extra* Green Apple gum! It has a *tartness* that soothes the craving & kills the urge! IF you have tried other things that haven't worked...TRY the Green Apple gum! It really does work! I'm glad to be back online! Not proud

Don't be too hard on yourself! What counts is that you have finally *arrived*, and what counts is from now on! I quit in September, made a major move in November. Due to an extremely stressful living arrangement for the first month of my move...I fell off the wagon! But, when I got my own place...I picked myself up, dusted it off and jumped back on the wagon! That's been almost 3 months ago! If at first you don't succeed...TRY, TRY AGAIN!
