50 to 99 Cruise Ship Departing for the Century Beach!

What an exciting day today has already been. I have made it half way to the beach. Shelly has a nice chair all ready for me to join her. The sun is shinning and Im ready to play some volleyball. I have just laid my 20 month old down to nap. She decided yesterday she didn't want to wear diapers any more and she has only had 1 accident. Right before she went to take her nap, I turned her crib into a toddler bed so she can get in and out on her own and she was so excited. Crawled right in and laid down for her nap. Now today will even more remember-able. On my 50 day quit my baby is turning into a little girl. Here is your Ice cold cocktail Shelly. Now lets sit and enjoy the ride to the beach. Lucy, You stay strong. So many here have kept there quit while living with a smoker or smokers. Those of you that do that are so strong. Keep up your quit and never give in. Lead by example and we can only hope the rest will follow us. starting over

joluv, I don't think any of us really wanted to quit. The more I read the more I see im just like everyone else here. I tried to talk myself into quiting many times. I didn't really try but I would smoke all my cigs at night then tell myself thats it. The next morning I would get up and say ok im now in panic mode cause I don't have my first thing in the morning fix. I would get ready for work and drive right to the gas station to buy a pack. I have been doing that for so many years and that was the extent to my "trying" to quit. Then 48 days ago I did the same thing. The only different thing is I drove past the gas station right to work. Got to work and told all my co-workers that I didn't stop at the gas station this morning. Them all being non-smokers im sure just thought I was nuts and over reacting but it was a HUGE step for me. I had realized that I wanted my quit more than I wanted to smoke. I have so many wants like a new car, another baby, landscaping our yard ect. I knew if I continued to smoke these things were not going to possible in the near future. If I quit I will make them my rewards. Like lady said one minute at a time. Find out what works best for you when you crave. Take another nap, do some deep breathing, drink some nice cold ice water, do something to keep your hands busy. Reward yourself. Every little step makes you one step closer to keeping the quit. New to the site BUT not new to the failure of tring to quit

Hi Cindy, Welcome to SSC, If you haven't done so already go threw the quit program on the left side. That for me answered alot of my questions I had at the beginning. I suggest you read, read and read some more. You will find you are a normal addict just like the rest of us. Some have struggled but are successful and some (the lucky ones) breeze right threw. Have you set a quit date?? Get ready to drink lots of water that is the best thing to do to wash away the toxins after you have started your quit. My first week I slept alot then I slept some more. Made "hell week" not so bad. Im a cold turkey quitter. I was about a pack a day smoker for about 21 years. Post often, use us to yell at scream at, relieve your stress ect. You will always find great support here.
