Bump, I'm so glad you got rid of the cigarettes. You're in the roughest part of the quit right now. Try to drink lots of cold water, try mints or chew on straws - I use the little plastic coffee stir sticks myself. Most importantly just take it in little steps and let the minutes take care of the days... just get thru five minutes at a time or whatever it takes. I still have "moments" but for the most part once I got past the first week it became much easier to cope with the effects of the quit. Do this for you and hang on to your quit... it'll get better and stay close to this site. The SSC family will see you thru every step.

Hi Eve, I've been reading your post and you crack me up. :)
I would love to join the rope chain... but I should warn you that I come with a HUGE gorilla still on my back... others call him nicodemon - but to me he's a big, hairy, smelly, pain in the butt, in my face gorilla.

It sounds to me like you showed incredible strength and determination - I'm not sure I could have done so well on my second day. I do recommend that you make sure that there aren't any more smokes available to you so that you won't have to go thru that kind of temptation again. When I quit I had to throw out 3 packs of cigs and I tried hard to convince myself that I should keep one cig "just in case" - I decided against it and I'm glad I did. If you're determined to protect your quit then you have to eliminate anything that may get in your way... and, I agree with Shevie - you should give your dh a good thump on the head the next time he tries to help you... :)

Danita, Your relationship with Ken sounds like it was truly a blessing in your life... you had a chance to experience the kind of love and friendship that so many people on this earth can only imagine must exist... it is like God gave you your own special glimpse of heaven...
Having lost someone myself I understand the pain and the void of losing a person in your life who has meant so much and I would never undermine the pain of that physical loss. But, if you search inside yourself you will know that it is now as it has always been. He has always been with you and you have always been with him. Nothing... not even his death can ever change that.
I hardly know you but from reading your words here and on this board I am sure that Ken must be so proud of you for your amazing courage and strength. I know I am.
Hugs,
Linda
Hi Pam, I wasn't here when you slipped - but, just wanted to tell you that reading your post has been an inspiration to me since finding the SSC and frankly, having quit and started before myself I really admire how quickly you faced things and recommited. The last time I failed in a quit (so many years ago that I don't remember) I just gave up... only got the strength to quit again recently. Thanks to people like you I believe I can make it this time!

Hi Ron, I asked my husband about this because our lot is oversized and I know he gets bored with it. He said that sometimes he creates patterns with the mower just to break the monotony. Just make the land a big etch-a-sketch, I guess. :)
Another idea we came up with was that you might subcontract the work out to responsible teenagers and spend your time supervising and lining up more work?
