Ok I want to crawl into a very dark hole. The cravings today weren't so bad until we got home and realized that the Easter egg hunt and BBQ was today not tomorrow. I'm not ready. Luckily I filled the eggs and got those out in time but I didn't make a side and we didn't smoke our brisket. I mentioned I wanted a cigarette and what does my DH do? He pulls out my pack I thought he threw away. I look at him mouth open. I go outside, look at the pack, pull one out, light it and hold it. I attempt to take a drag but can't. Attempt two barely a drag but I get the taste. Attempt 3 try harder but I just can't bring myself to take a drag so I throw it out, storm in the house and here I am. Did I blow it? Do I have to start all over? I am so upset. I am so disgusted. I am so diappointed in myself. I didn't truly inhale but why does that remind me of Bush? I'm such a loser.

Milaya I agree with Lady YOU ARE NOT A LOSER!!!! I am going to chime in with bambi too on the issue of your determination to quit--or else you would not be here!!! Just ask yourself, 'do I desire to live more than I desire to smoke'? Girl you already know the answer! You have to believe in yourself that you CAN do this and you ARE BIGGER than your circumstances. There is not one thing on the agenda that should have the title "have a cig" in it!!!There is no obstacle too big that it cannot be overcome with a little patience and kindness--toward YOURSELF. You need to be gentle with yourself and know that THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Take DEEP BREATHS and DRINK LOTS OF WATER....If you still feel the need to light up, WAIT 5 MINUTES. Promise yourself to come HERE and post before you light up, and promise to wait for at least ONE person to respond before you light up!!!! And no matter what, don't light up!!!! You don't have to, because you don't need too. That Nicodemon is making you believe that you need him and you know that you don't! And besides you are tied to me so I am building a little ark for the last of your smokes and sending them out to sea for a final farewell!!! It sounds to me like you showed incredible strength and determination - I'm not sure I could have done so well on my second day. I do recommend that you make sure that there aren't any more smokes available to you so that you won't have to go thru that kind of temptation again. When I quit I had to throw out 3 packs of cigs and I tried hard to convince myself that I should keep one cig "just in case" - I decided against it and I'm glad I did. Milaya you are not a loser and you chose not to smoke that cig this shows that you are quite determined in your quit. You should be feeling pride that you threw it away and not disgust. It is no good beating yourself up, you are only human, it is done with now use this as experience and carry on with a successful quit. Milaya, You are not a loser! Knock that off right now! Quitting is fricken hard for everyone! Those first few days are the worse. You are playing a very dangerous game with your quit. Quitting is serious and you have to be determined if you plan to succeed. Get rid of any cigarettes you may have. Drown them in water so that when you go looking for them in the trash they are impossible to smoke. You can cry, scream, kick, yell, break dishes, punch a pillow, whatever it takes but you do not smoke. N.O.P.E. is how we all quit. Not One Puff Ever! You are not a failure, you are a quitter and should be proud of it. There are so many smokers that are content to continue to slowly kill themself and continue to smoke. So many that don't even try to quit. You obviously want this quit or you wouldn't be here. You have to realize that you are an addict. You have addictive behavior that you have to change in order to be quit. Do not lite that next cigarette no matter what happens in your life. There is not one thing that smoking will solve or make better. All you are doing is killing youself so knock it off. You Can do it! Milaya, you are not a loser. You are an addict who is attempting to gain control over one of the strongest addictions known. That makes you a winner in anybody's book. DH needs thumped on the head. Not hard, just enough to rattle things around in there. You're on your second day quit. You're in physical nicotine withdrawal. Your body and brain chemistries are in disarray (totally whacked is a better description). And DH puts the fixin's for a fix right into your hands. Brain screams "YEAH, YEAH, GIMME, GIMME, GIMME!!!!". Primal, addicted part snatches control from the rational part and you try one. But it's so nasty even the primal part recoils a bit; just enough that the rational part can finally regain power. No, you did not blow it. Everything's just fine. Sounds like you probably didn't get much more nicotine in you than you would from second hand smoke. (BTW, it was Clinton that didn't inhale) This has been a lesson in the strength of the junkie.
