Loving my stats today as I head for another milestone. Happy to kick up my heels and march with the smoke-free gang.

There were snow flurries when I hopped on the train this morning in KC, but seeing my stats (8 weeks today) makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
Thanks Mr. Ed.

Thanks for checking in, Bingo.
It really does help to hear from people like you who have made it to the other side. To know that it is possible to go from a life in which you can't imagine not smoking -- to a life in which you can't imagine smoking.
It is the hope of that day coming that sustains many of us. So I guess it happens sometime between Day 1 and Month 19. Sure wish I knew what day.....but I know it must be a Tuesday. :)

Wish I could say I never think about it -- but at least I'm not doin' it!
Happy smoke-free Monday everybody.

I don't really feel that great about Day 60 or much of anything right now, but I guess that's to be expected. My last day of class is tomorrow and law school finals start next week. I had said that I wanted to end this semester smoke-free and 2 weeks from tomorrow I will be done.
I am tired and want a cigarette every day, thinking that it would make these days easier. But I'll live and soon will have a nice long break and be able to get out of town for awhile.
Just wanted to check in so you guys wouldn't think I fell off the wagon. I worry about people who just seem to disappear without a word.

No smoking for me this weekend in Kansas City! Couldn't do it even if I wanted to - my teeth are chattering too much from the cold. Wish I could join you Floridians for some smoke-free time in the sun.
Have a great weekend everybody.

Hi everybody --
I took my last final today and am happy to report that I made it through without smoking. No matter what the grades end up to be, as far as I'm concerned I already aced the semester.
Like so many other things that trigger cravings for us, I thought that I "couldn't" get through finals without a smoke. I wouldn't be able to think. I wouldn't be able to study effectively. But I did. And it was tough those first few days of heavy studying. I felt bad --- REALLY bad. But it got better. I think that's one of the big keys to quitting and staying quit -- the willingness to feel really badly, at least for awhile. We just have to accept it and not smoke. The first part is really bad and then there are stresses or triggers that will make us feel sometimes as if we're back at square one, which is what I experienced going into finals.
After most of us have spent decades feeding our addictions -- it is unrealistic for us to think that quitting should only hurt for a couple of days and then we should be done.
I am not going to smoke, NO MATTER WHAT. I'm not sure what the next big trigger is going to be, but I feel confident I'll be ready when it comes.
So I am going to enjoy a nice long winter break, take a trip to Oregon to hang out with friends and enjoy my first smoke-free Christmas in 20 years.
