Oh Lori, That makes me so happy to hear how well you did. You're right, you have to be willing to put up with a little bit of unpleasantness in order to experience the greater joy. But, isn't that true in most of our worthwhile endeavors? I'm really proud of you, and am wishing you a wonderful joyful, relaxing break. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 265 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,600 Amount Saved: $1,802.00 Life Gained: Days: 37 Hrs: 1 Mins: 7 Seconds: 8

Lori, look at your stats! That's awesome, it seems like you just got here! I love this:[quote[ I think that's one of the big keys to quitting and staying quit -- the willingness to feel really badly, at least for awhile. We just have to accept it and not smoke.
That is So true, and I would only add that those few minutes of feeling really bad lead to a lifetime of feeling so much better. WTG, Lori, we're really proud of you. Enjoy your time off & be proud of you, too. Awesome, Lorri. It's great you pulled through the way you did. It's a reminder for me to do the same when I face a big trigger. Hi everybody -- I took my last final today and am happy to report that I made it through without smoking. No matter what the grades end up to be, as far as I'm concerned I already aced the semester. Like so many other things that trigger cravings for us, I thought that I "couldn't" get through finals without a smoke. I wouldn't be able to think. I wouldn't be able to study effectively. But I did. And it was tough those first few days of heavy studying. I felt bad --- REALLY bad. But it got better. I think that's one of the big keys to quitting and staying quit -- the willingness to feel really badly, at least for awhile. We just have to accept it and not smoke. The first part is really bad and then there are stresses or triggers that will make us feel sometimes as if we're back at square one, which is what I experienced going into finals. After most of us have spent decades feeding our addictions -- it is unrealistic for us to think that quitting should only hurt for a couple of days and then we should be done. I am not going to smoke, NO MATTER WHAT. I'm not sure what the next big trigger is going to be, but I feel confident I'll be ready when it comes. So I am going to enjoy a nice long winter break, take a trip to Oregon to hang out with friends and enjoy my first smoke-free Christmas in 20 years.
