Amen fullhse06!
Jess, I don't care if you are a crabby butt. I don't care if you have to dress up in a clown costume and run up & down your street honkin a big freakin horn in order to preoccupy yourself. You know this will pass and if those people that are on the receiving end of your moods, well, the ones that matter will understand. I guarantee your loved ones want you to succeed in your quit and are proud of you. I know I am and I barely know ya!
Spend more time on this site, vent to us if you'd rather do that. We can take it! Whatever it takes Jess...you can do it! Don't be a junkie.

I love it. You make the decision once....the rest is just what comes with the job.
Thanks for sharing that.

Butterfly,
I tested myself the first weekend and it was a great success. I would be VERY cautious though...you're much further into your quit than I was and this has been a downfall for you in the past. I know what you mean about wanting to prove you can be strong and get through it...just be completely honest with yourself BEFORE you go. Are you really ready? Only you can answer that.
Whatever it takes for as long as it takes!

I Quit, I am with ya. Sometimes I dislike the smell, other times I wish I could bottle that second hand smoke. Like butterfly, I find that the times I enjoy the smell...it's because I think about 'the good times' I had with my cancer sticks. I think about the smoke with morning coffee, and oh that one after dinner. I'm learning to get past these thoughts though and see it all for what it really was...a horrible, nasty, life-threatening addiction! I think about all those mornings I'd wake up after a night out smoking one right after the other...lungs hurting and hacking all day long. Ever cough up some of that gray junk? Nice huh?
It's all about getting over this addiction we have and seeing it for what it really is. How many people that never smoked a day in their life do you think smell cigarette smoke and it evokes happy thoughts? None! The addiction never got a hold of them! Try to start envisioning yourself as a non-smoker and viewing cigarettes through those eyes.

The gym is an excellent idea. Let us know how the sugar free candy works! I'm on day 7 and this is the first day I didn't eat absolutely everything in site. I did, however, consiously try to watch it. You can keep yourself preoccupied with food, just try to eat healthy things. Lots of people say carrots work for them.

How are you doing hereiam?
Try to work your quit out mentally. You really have to convince yourself this is it...Not One Puff Ever. Do you know why it's so hard right now? Because it's an addiction. You don't have to be a slave to this the rest of your life.
Everyone here at the SSC is here to help you through this. It helps so much to read through the many posts and really listen to what the people here have to say. You are one of us now and we want you to succeed.
