Dear Nan, You know you are one of my all time heroes. Im thrilled there is no cancer, but very sorry to hear the emphysema is worse. I, too, feel as if I waited too long so many wasted years slowly killing ourselves with smoking. Thank God we finally quit. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Nan, thank you for being here. Your presence at the SSC is a wonderful inspiration.
Love,
Hummy
Bad girl! Bad, bad girl! Cheryl, you scared me to death! What a nightmare. Next time, start the story out with it was all a mistake, but . . . - SOOOO glad it was a scare and not a for real nightmare.
And by the way, you are not Almost Positive I Never Will Again! You are ABSOLUTELY Positive you will NEVER smoke again. :p
Send the nurse roses on Valentines Day. What a jewel!
Hugs,
Hummy

Dear Joe, You, Shevie, Yoda, and I all quit about the same time. Ive always considered myself to be one of the boys. You know how special you are to me, so let me just say, congratulations my friend for a well deserved honor.

Hi Brent, I keep waiting for someone to ask you what thrash with blender means. Do you put it in the blender and blend it all up or just make the veggies smaller, or what? I think I figured out the bung in pan bit. Southern US gal here think I need a translator LOL!

I've yet to keep a quit, but I won't keep smoking.
Tennielle, that statement tells me that you will keep your quit. You just have to have the right tools, the right mindset/attitude, and the KNOWLEDGE that you will not ever smoke again.
Write down every reason you have for wanting to quit. Keep them with you at all times, and anytime you think about smoking, MAKE yourself read them at least twice before you pick up a cigarette.
When you quit, youve already made the decision. You dont get to go back on your decision. The only thing you get to do is figure out how to stick with your decision. Smoking is not an option, so what do you do? Plan everything out. Decide what youre going to do when you start craving a cigarette. Figure out how youre going to keep smoke free when youre around smokers. Write down EVERYTHING. One member quit smoking the day he went on a week long hiking/camping trip with non smokers. He took away all his options to smoke, kept busy, enjoyed his friends, and quit smoking. Decide what it is you need to do, what support you need, what rewards youre going to give yourself, and then, just jump in and quit. You really can do it. Anyone can. You just dont have the next cigarette. Ever. You could do it if you knew the next one was going to kill you. You know that you want to quit, so plan it all out and quit. Well be here for you to hang on to, and you will be SOOOO glad you did.
N2K thank you for the hug! I did tissue painting with kindergarten today. My hands look as if I stuck them in a vat of dye. My legs are burning from Tai Chi. I have several rather pressing things to complete this evening. My daughter isnt feeling well. And I REALLY needed the hug. (On the other hand, I didnt have to go through what Cheryl went through yesterday, so Ill not sweat the small stuff.)
Joe, weve hijacked your thread again. Big congrats on the Hall of Fame award! :)

Arwensmom, After 21 days most of the weird side effects of quitting usually go away. If you continue to have headaches or feel depressed often, you should see your doctor. You must stop smoking completely to be quit. If you keep cheating, youll just go back to smoking. Write down every reason you have for quitting, and read your reasons BEFORE you have a puff. Itll help. You can do this.

Okay this is what I found:
Butties: To be a proper butty, it has to be made with two very thick slices of bread (aka doorsteps) which are invariably buttered -a practice that seems to be unknown in the US. Butties can contain bacon (usually slathered with brown sauce or ketchup), chips (not really french fries - the British chip is far fatter and never crunchy... imagine Roseanne Barr rather than Kate Moss) or anything else, really. Jam butties (that's jello to anyone in the US) are also a staple snack. People really eat jello on bread?
Baps: bread rolls, also British Association of Plastic Surgeons, Bloody Awful Poet Society, British Astrological And Psychic Society, British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, and last, but not least, modern slang for a woman's breast.
Cob: A bread bun or loaf.
Brent, you wouldnt purposely be confuzzling would you? :p
