I did NOT expect this!

To everyone who has just quit: I thought my cravings would be insatiable, that I would die without another cigarette. Here's what I found: I'm on DAY 7 of my quit and I can't remember a time I've felt BETTER. Hell week is called "HELL" for a reason, but here's what I felt this morning after waking up from the hell of the past few days, I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT: 1. An amazing amount of energy (not nervousness, but what felt like strength) 2. Pride in myself (a weird, good sense of self-confidence that I've never felt before) 3. Breathing easier (my cough is going away) 4. Happy IT GETS BETTER, So much Better -- it gets AMAZING. I never expected such benefits So Soon. For everyone who is in their first week of your quit, all the old-timers who have been here for a while, and all they are saying to you is TRUE. I know I will have the bad times and the cravings again, but this new feeling -- man, it's definitely worth it. Thanks for all the support out there; I wouldn't have been able to make it through hell week without this forum. Free104

Thank you so much for your story! I need the encouragement, although as you said, I am finding it a little easier each day. I'm only into day 5, though. I believe you and all others when they say it gets better. I didn't believe it the first day, and decided I had to just have faith in it, whether I believed it or not. This site has helped me more than anything, just by reading stories like yours. Thank you again! Free104 and NSA girl, congratulations on your quits. You're both doing an awesome job. A big thumbs-up to both of you. About 8 months ago I was right where you were. And like you, I took what the "old timers" were telling me on faith. Sometimes that was all I had to hold on to when a crave smashed all reason and common sense. Today I'm so glad I listened to them. :) You're all doing a fantastic job. It does my heart much good to see so many new quitters pressing on in success. Keep up the good quits.
