Myth and Fact

Very very true.
 
I know when I had my first panic attack I called my dad who I love and respect very much.  I told him what happened with the racing heart and so forth and he jsut brushed it off.  Like I was making a big deal over nothing.  I in turn stopped talking about it with him.  I didn't to show any weakness.  I only feel comfortable talking to a few people about my panic....also because I don't want anyone to see it as a weekness.  It is so comforting knowing we have this place to vent

Can money buy happiness?


 
I think I agree with everyone money doesn't buy happiness but it can sure help.  I know I would be a lot happier in the bahamas right now!

Stressful week

I have had a few nasty coworkers.  It is so hard to deal with and it made me dread going to work.  I tried talking to them about it but it never worked out. I think they really had no idea of how much it effected me.  I remember at one point I wasn't eating or sleeping it upset me so much.  I tried talking to others and that provided some relief.  But I never did end up resolving the issue....so I hear how you are feeling Wildcat.  Wouldn't it be nice if we worked together? At least we would understand eachother .

Trying to Shake this feeling

Hi everyone,
 
I am so happy I found this site.  I have always been too nervous to go to face to face support groups so this seems perfect.  I have been feeling pretty down in the dumps lately so I am hoping talking to all of you will help me a little.  I don't know why but this summer weather is actually depressing me even more.  Well anyways, I am sure I will get to know all of you more as I spend more time on the site.  I just started working through the program and it is really great so far.

work woes

I know exactly how you feel Wildcat.  I won't even let myself read magazines anymore.... it just makes me feel like I need to buy more, look better etc. 
For me I always feel like I am missing out on life.  All I want to do is stay at home and hide but then I feel sad for not doing anything exciting.  I hope that I will start to feel better this weekend....

Thats good news.  So how are you doing now?  Keep us updated.  I know when I was off work I had trouble staying motivated.  All I wanted to do was lay around. I had to really push myself to get going.  Are you staying active and social during your time off work?

Hey, how are the work troubles going for everyone?
 
I have been having a lot of good experiences at my workplace lately.  I find setting boundaries really helps.  Sometimes people walk all over people just because they know they can.  I tend to be too much of a people pleaser but I often get less respect because of it (weird eh?).  Well I have learned if you voice your opinion and let people know when you are offended then people respect you more.  I hope this helps someone!

Glad to hear you have some me time even if it wasn't an ideal me time .
 
I have heard a few of my friends having the same problem as you with loved ones not growing up.  It sounds to me like you are enabling them.  You are not doing them any favours by doing everything for them.  They would appreciate life more and have more confidence if they did things for themselves. One day you just need to stop doing all those things and they will have to learn for themselves.  Obviously with your husband it is a different story but I would suggest if there is a way he can do something himself then you tell him to do it for himself. It may seem mean but in the end you will actually be doing them a favour!

Feelings of Being Dismissed

 

I often get discouraged when I talk to educators and health care professionals as well.  Heck, even when I see different doctors about a certain physical illness I may have I get different information.  I try to remind myself that they are only human beings just like us and it would be impossible for them to know all the right answers. 

 

I have learned over the years that when it comes down to it, you and only you are responsible for your health.  If you do not like the care you are getting you simply need to do more research to find the health care provider or information that you are looking for.

 

I know it sounds a little harsh but its true.  There are doctors and educators that are better at their jobs then others, there are doctors and educators that have good and bad days there are doctors and educators that may specialize in this or that.  I believe you can learn something from every human being on the earth but it’s up to you on who and how much information you will gain.

Try to remain positive furgitit.  I know it sometimes feels impossible. I also know sometimes you just want to scream at a health care provider who seems to just not care.  But try to be thankful that we live in a world where there is an abundance of information and educated people we can utilize.  Geesh, look at this site. Its free and has an amazing program, with amazing people in it, and amazing health educators J.  Its amazing the gifts we are given today.  Not that long ago our illnesses were not even diagnosable.  We are moving forward my friends!
