Welcome!!! Congrats to you, and trust me when you really want to quit it is easier than you think!
since i am close to a newbie too and have just recently went through all the ruff parts let me help you with your concerns...
1. don't do both... quit smoking 1st... allow a little weight gain, be proud of accomplishing the first one, trust me i only gained 5lbs but ate whatever i wanted and "let" myself gain weight because when you start to feel good guess what happens, you start to crave working out! Eating healthier...and you will glow on the new outlook to the different healthier you!
2.work smoking - oh yeah tell me about it- i choose a time that was a bit of down time but that is hard to find for me...i also choose to quit sat and took off monday- giving me those three days to not have to deal w. work while going through the "hardest" time. Think about this but don't let that change your mind... it was just my way of telling myself that it's not work or stress that is making me smoke over a pack a day...it's me and the addiction...i know almost a mth later get more done have greater concentration...and do "crazy stress time" with easy instead of o.m.g i smoked a million cigs and feel sick
3.sorry so long, just wanna help...tell everyone! I don't know you but all of my previous quits i kept quiet incase i failed... this one i told EVERYONE...my thoughts if you started w peer pressure i let peer pressure help me quit...including letting down the stranger on this site which i was obsessed with the first week+more...also, be proud of EVRY step...even if its making it 4 days...we will be proud of you cause we know what its like!!!
My Mileage:
My Quit Date: 3/12/2010 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 625 Amount Saved: $312.50 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 56 Seconds: 35
i feel you! 30 years or my 15... it matters on your mind -set. I believe that more than anything...
I was a major addict too!!! Couldn't imagine myself quitting3 days before i did i had a 3 hour long drawn out conversation about it...then it dawn on me. Wow- after trying everything under the sun - quiting every other day and smoking 2 hours later...what really mattered is my mind-set.
then i came here, grabbed on to this place and allowed myself to believe that it is absolutely possible for someone to quit...i hated it, felt dizzy confused, spacy...i ate everything...but i never gave up on myself- even the times when my roommate goes out in my backyar to smoke- now i pitty her cause she's still trapped! i am free, i have stopped lying.
Yep it is hard! Won't lie and neither will anyone. I still feel cravings but i recognize them- i don't dwell on them, actually i laugh them off sometimes, and go on to the next thing- week one that next thing was posting, talking, reading on this site...so soon it will be your turn to be this proud of yourself!!!
Congrats!!!
