gave it a shot

Morgan-
Without falling into lecture mode I just want to let you know how impressive it is that you are even thinking about not smoking at 17. I know there is a lot of peer pressure but you have to do a reality check every now and again and the reality in your situation is: If someone is putting pressure on you to smoke then they are not your peer or your friend.
Also, I wish I had the insight at 17 that you seem to grasp- I smoked from age 16 to 40. In that time I smoked roughly 168,000 cigarettes. It cost me out of pocket roughly $25,000. ....... If I would have properly invested even half of this money who knows... Most people who have smoked for many years don't even want to start adding up the numbers.
Don't be like us. You have a choice. This is important.
Tim

Hey folks,
I'm still here, moving forward. Even at this point there are cravings, irrational thoughts.  But still keeping resolve.

It will pass....

I just moved in to my second year of being smoke free and the biggest motivator I have now is the TRUE knowledge that a craving is like any other emotion we experience as a human.   It will pass and turn into something else.
The longer you go the less and less intense they become.
Although I will always keep my guard up, I could care less about cigarettes now.
Free yourself..

Thank you StopSmokingCenter and my friends who have helped me along the way.

In the same boat with Peteg-- back again

Deb,
Hang in there.  During my times of desperation (we ALL have them) I have found that self improvement turns out to be the best tonic.

I am sure you feel like a better person when you are not smoking,(I do).

Take care of yourself.

WHAT EVER IT TAKES!!!.................

Hello folks, my name is Tim and I quit smoking three years ago today.  I had tried for years, but I never really had a plan.....Finally it became to much, and I began to realize how much of a tax smoking was on not just me but my family as well.  I decided to get help- professional from my doctor ( we decided on Wellbutrin) and I became a faithful member of the STOP SMOKING CENTER.     IT WORKS PEOPLE!   Stick with it.  One of the best things I have ever done for myself.  You can do it.
