I have almost made it through hell week. Today has been harder than most but it sure makes you feel good when you get through the day without smoking. I had a day today that was just begging me to smoke. I am learning about cues to smoking and relating a situation with smoking. I am trying to keep a sense of humor about everything. My biggest prob is just being soooo tired. Can't wait for that part of the quit to be over. Thanks to all who have written me encouraging words. I will keep the quit!!!

Thanks again everyone. I will keep the quit!!

Don't give up trying. You can do it, we all can. It is getting better.
Ashley just told me:
Fatigue is a common withdrawal symptom and is generally the result of:
Your metabolism slowing down
The lack of nicotine which is a stimulant
The increase of exygen present in your bloodstream
Nightly sleeping disturbances
Caffeine withdrawal
Take naps if you need to as you wait for this withdrawal symptom to pass. If it persists beyond the first few weeks of your quit, see your doctor for further assessment.
Knowing that this is normal for this to happen helps. Hope it helps you too.

You have to want to quit smoking more than anything. Just keep telling yourself how much better you are going to feel, how much more energy and how much longer you will live. I found that the Hall's cough drops that are berry flavored and have a liquid honey center are really good when you have a craving. Also having a sense of humor helps me. Try to find something or someone to keep you smiling. Good luck to you!!

I had smoked for around 40 years and I just quit smoking 8 days ago. How long do I cough this crap up. It is making it very difficult to sleep and then I'm tired all day. Do you think I will ever be normal again? I'm just so sorry that I did this to myself.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate your support, it helps me alot to have someone tell me that things I'm going through are normal. I will wait a little for my lungs to clear and if it don't start getting better, I will go to the Dr. I will up the ice water that I drink too. Maybe that will help. I used to hardly ever drink just plain water but I'm finding that it tastes pretty darn good.
