Thank you Tresa That's better. Got my dad in the picture. His advice was when you felt like having a cigarette to go outside and take a deep breath of fresh air instead. Anyway it's a blast from the past. August 1956. Not sure if we had television then. Probably not. breather 55 Addict 0

Hello Jan , Jazz , moss , Faryal , Karren , Henny Penny , and Kelly. Hope everyone's having a good day. This is the first thread that I've started since joining. I guess pretty well everyone ends up with a box full of photos to look through that says " this is your life " , or more than that " this was ". Some fond memories and some not so fond. The birthdays , days at the beach , days when you couldn't wait to get up and get going. Days that seemed endless. Or the negatives of the failed marraige , no , don't think I'll duplicate them. Not today anyway. Like father , like son. He quit smoking because he couldn't breathe and now here I am the exact same. Go figure. But it is good to take a stroll down memory lane once in a while. A picture is worth a thousand words and what's left unsaid speaks volumes. I come here to not smoke. There's one thing I want though and that's to be happy not doing it. I think the worst is over now. There will be times but nothing like at the start. So thank you everyone for all you do , you're the best quitters I know. breather 56 Addict still 0

Hello Bryan I'd like to make a suggestion to you in regard to quitting smoking. Keep in mind that this is only a suggestion and what works for me might not necessarily work for you. Gradually decreasing the amount of cigarettes smoked isn't a good way to stop smoking and I'll explain why. I beleive the secret to successfully quitting smoking is to stop smoking only once with the intention of not starting again. By decreasing consumption it perpetuates nicotine withdrawal by being in a near constant state of craving because once the next cigarette is smoked the withdrawal begins all over again. I see this as unnecessary suffering. I didn't enjoy my last cigarettes. I near coughed my lungs out so i didn't miss them. The last night of smoking I smoked till I was near sickened. Needless to say I haven't smoked since. By all means quit in your own way and in your own time , I just don't want anyone to suffer needlessly. breather 57 Addict 0
