New Member and need help!!

Hi moss Thank you for the encouragement. Yes it is hard at times. Very. I didn't think that it wouldn't be. I try to be positive and  not  take things too seriously.  Everybody's different and what works for me might not work for somebody else. I chose the name breather because I was having a hard time breathing and wanted to breathe easier. So it's about hope and it's getting better allready. Now the thought patterns are a different story. Addiction really is round. I can't forget to remember to be grateful because if I'm grateful I can't be anything else at the same time. Woke up in a dream and made it happen. Breather 13 Addict 0

Finally decided to post and introduce myself!

Jude  Looks like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. There are people that would like things to happen , people that sit around and wait for things to happen , and people that make things happen. I think you're of the latter. You're the most important person here. Because you're young 25 the younger kids will listen and look up to you. Imagine. They don't want to hear it from somebody like me but will listen to you. The worst should be over now. Heck week is more of the same but hopefully not as bad for you. Reach out and be lifted up. I can't , we can. Breather 14 Addict 0

Ackkkkkkk - dying for a smoke rigiht now!!!!

Hi All  Where did this thread come from again ? It's been gone ? for a few days. Funny thing is that I'm not dying for a smoke right now. Holding steady at about a 5 on the quit meter.  Had an ultrasound at the start of November and had been worried about it for some time. Anyway went to the Dr's yesterday morning and everything's good. The good thing is that I didn't have to try and hide my nicotine stained fingers because they aren't stained anymore. It was only a matter of time before I would've felt the wrath of the "Doc" as he's a non-smoker and no fool. They knew , I wasn't fooling anybody. Was embaressed about it though and don't have to be now. Another plus. I like the idea of not smoking for a minute or five minutes at a time to get through the crave. Obsession followed by compulsion subsides. Only thoughts and the black hole to deal with now. No promises to make to anyone except that I'll TRY. jusT foR todaY I won't smoke. Tomorrow's another day and we start all over again. With the good people here at the SSC , the right tools in my tool box , and wanting this quit more than anything I've ever wanted in my life I know that things are going to be OK...breather 15  Addict 0

Breather got through Heck Week, too!!!

Hi Jim Thanks for being there. Just finished chat by the way. Remember double click the name. Note to self " double click". Click , click. lol And thank you Breanne. Probably go out to eat somewhere. I really don't know about proud Breanne. I think the word for me would be guarded. Vigilence and non-complacency might do it. I'm grateful for the members and moderators here at The SSC. S.O.S

Hi Lil  I hope it isn't too late. If it isn't " don't do it ". Put that thought right out of your head. It's not surprising that you're right around six weeks. I know you want one more now than you probably ever did. I did too. I lasted six weeks twice and went back. You can do this thing. You can. This might be the hardest thing right now but you're being tested. Think about it. Do you want to blow nearly forty days? Ask somebody with cancer if they think you should have a cigarette. You know what the answer is. It's the nature of the disease. You never have to go through this again if you don't smoke. See past the moment. Going back starts the addiction all over again. I know you don't want it. You've already gone through the worst. You never have to go through it again if you don't want to. If I have to beg you I will. Please , please Lil , don't smoke. We care about you and don't want anything to happen to you.
