Hello!!

Quitten' Girl, so glad you decided to quit smoking.  You've been given some wonderful advice.  You can add your quit meter from the "My Profile" tab above.  Be sure to fill out each and every question in the "My Program" tab.  Jim always talks about the 6 P's, so be sure you have this quit planned out.  We want this to be your final quit!  I love your commitment to becoming a non-smoker!  Are you using an NRT like Chantix or gum or are you going Cold Turkey?  Read prior posts, search for topics that affect your quit.  We're all here to help each other succeed.  Don't forget about setting up a reward system!  You need to retrain your brain that rewards are a good thing!  As you can see from prior posts, we love celebrating milestones.  Whether it be 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year, we love sharing each other's success!  We're all rooting for you!  Let us know what we can do to help!

It's cold and rainy!!! And I used to sit out there SMOKING!!!!!

Well, we would smoke in the house.  So whenever we knew somebody was coming over, we would spray like a whole can of air freshener.  We spent more money on candles, plug ins, oil diffusors, scented things, etc. so the house wouldn't smell like smoke.

I travel alot for work.  I missed a connection in Chicago since I went outside to smoke during a layover and when I came back in the security line was over 45 minutes long and I missed my flight!

Marriott hotels are non-smoking.  I would go outside the hotel at midnight for my last smoke, then out again at 6 am for a morning smoke.  Put on shoes, grab the coat, down the hall, down the elevator, out the door, look for the ashtray.

I don't have to worry about air fresheners, missed connections, or finding the smoking spot at hotels anymore!  YEAH!!!

It's cold and rainy!!! And I used to sit out there SMOKING!!!!!

I love all of these stories!!!  Way too funny!  Now here is another one : My father didn't know that I smoked.  I don't think my father knew that I smoked.  I would keep breath mints in my car, along with cologne, and when I would arrive at my parents house I would eat like a dozen breath mints and drown myself in cologne.  When they would come over to the house, I would sneak "behind the garage" or go into the basement and smoke.  And don't forget the air fresheners from my earlier post.  Now today, I can smell somebody who recently smoked from 50 feet away.  I can walk into a house and tell if somebody smoked there in the past week.  I wonder if I really kept my smoking from my dad?  I laugh to myself whenever I think about hiding my smoking from my dad.

Oh the weather outside is frightful... Here in the US, major winter storms are affecting most of the country.  Today is forecasted to be one of the busiest travel days too.  I will not let the weather, last minute shopping, last minute shoppers, packed malls, crazy traffic, nor any other stressful event affect me.  I promise not to smoke this weekend!  Greetings of the Seasons from Columbus, Ohio!!!

Been having bad cravings

Paula, I agree that you need to keep yourself distracted when the urges come up!  Could it be holiday triggers that are causing this?  For many of us, this is the first Christmas we are not smoking.  I know in years past I would smoke while doing my Christmas cards, smoke while wrapping gifts, smoke while decorating the tree, etc.  I am actually getting my holiday chores done faster this year as I'm not taking smoke breaks!  Would a cup of hot tea help when your chest and/or throat feel tight?  Hold steady.  Look at your stats!  You're doing great!

my first post since my quit

Handyman, welcome to the SSC!  Glad that you survived hunting season, and glad that you have 5 months or so to get ready for fishing season.  Good job on your quit meter.  You've done well!  Have you gone through all of the "my program" and other sections?  We are huge believers in rewards, so even though you are at 110 days, make sure you have a reward system in place.  If you have any tips on how you prepared for your quit, stories about stress, etc, feel free to post them here.  It could be your post that motivates somebody to quit.  It could also be your post that provides the insite for somebody who is struggling in their quit and a minute away from smoking again.  We're glad you're here!  Let us know if we can help you with anything!
