Tomorrow?s the BIG Day

Hi Ron! hey its normal to be feeling how you're feeling. I felt exactly the same- like I was stepping into the abyss! and Ron this is absolutely true, when I eventually crossed the line into non-smoking I truly thought well this isn't half as scary as I imagined it would be!
Sure its going to be strange, but  this time you are well prepared, you have included not only your friends and family to share your quit journey, but a quit buddy at work, and all us here at SSC. Wow now that is preparation!!
I am excited for your quit, I know once you see those stats going up and that little quit meter ticking over you'll be so driven to continue.
Please come by here and share, tell us the ups and the downs- vent holler and scream if you must, but there is absolutely no need for you to go it alone this time
Good Luck Ron!!

Smoking Dreams!

Hi Fr8 good to see you today!! well I never had a smoking dream but my husband did except it wasn't him that was smoking it was me!! (he quit a little before me)
What effect do you think the smoking dreams are having on your quit??
I had bizarre dreams on the patches but they never involved smoking- I shall be interested to know how you feel about them-I reckon its because the first couple of weeks are thoughts are constantly about smoking and it just carries on into our sleep time, I reckon they'll soon stop.....................but hey well done on day 6 already woo hoo!!

A different type of chest infection.

Wonder if anyone has had a similar experience to mine this week? I have had a chest and throat infection which came without warning 10 days ago.
I say 'came without warning' because when I was a heavy smoker I was always aware of when a chest infection was about to strike. A couple of days before I would get a 'nasty' cabbagey taste in my mouth and an intense tightening across the chest. However, this time it just came, and although I felt pretty miserable, I have to say that as chest infections go this one was mild. I have had a cough but not my coughs of old where I would cough until I was almost sick or gasping for breath, and my recovery has been far quicker than any other chest complaint I have ever had.
Health Mods- am I just lucky to have got off lightly this time or is it proof that my chest/ lungs have improved somewhat??

A different type of chest infection.

Thanks everyone for the 'get well' wishes- I am feeling much better now thanks, and did not suffer half as much as I would have when smoking.

That's It!

Ron, isn't it funny how Carr's thoughts really stick, really make you think??
The two I kept with me are, "smokers smoke to feel like non-smokers do all the time" and " if you knew for sure the next cigarette you smoke would be the one that gave you lung cancer, would you smoke it?"
Of course 99.9% of us smokers would answer no to the second question, but because we dont know how long the damage will take to show, or,if at all in some cases, then we continue to literally dice with death.
Keep your positivity going Ron, and well done on getting day 1 down and out!!
