Just Stopped

16 years ago 0 37 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Everyone, Hope you are all doing great and feeling a bit better every day that pass by without smoking !! Went out for dinner last night with friends, first time since I stopped. No wine so no cigarettes neither. All went fine until the end of the dinner. Friends started to smoke and I found it quite difficult not to. A good nicotine gum helped though, but I cannot wait for the day where seeing other people smoking will not be a problem or craving anymore... Anyway, 9th day today, another 5 to go and I am out of the heck week. Cannot wait for tomorrow to see a double digit on my smoke-free day count :-) Hope you are all well Cheers David My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: $540.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 11 Seconds: 26

Hi Everyone, Just back from the week-end and great to see all the discussions on the screen. Today is the first day of the Heck week and I am all ready to go!! So glad I did not smoke over the week-end!! Sleeping is becoming a major issue and especially dreaming of smoking, so when I saw your great message Nonic, I though at least somehow somewhere someone as similar symptoms. Kiwi, point well taken about the gum (and good laugh too). It helps quite a bit though. Will try to leave it rest a bit I must say today I start to feel the cravings are not as strong as before, and it start to feel encouraging. I just feel I was not eating so many sweets like chocolate in the evening, destroying the 90min gym in the morning What about you guys the one who are in since a while and Kelly, Doodles and the other whom we started together, are you all doing? I wish you a good week ahead and chat soon. Cheers and thanks again for all you support it really helps a lot David My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 140 Amount Saved: $420.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 44 Seconds: 28

Your correct, what ever it takes. You can have strange food cravings, if you go easy you won't over do. Like you it's a drive for me to get a pack. But I have been off a while. Hang in there it does get easier. I chew gum, and a straw is cheaper than cigs, and better for you!! you'll get there. David Hope today was better that the last few.. This is the 6th day for me and I have had a few really bad craves.. using the patch and zyban.. Thank goodness, I would have to actual drive to the store and buy a pack to get my fix,, I am trying to just talk my way through it.. Water does not seem to do it for me.. Chewing alot of sugarless gum, the straw trick works well too.. feeling a little foolish smoking a straw.. whatever it takes My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $18.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 21 Seconds: 22

David, Keep going! You're doing great! Don't forget to work through the online quit program for tons more tips. An increase in appetite is quite common as nicotine is an appetite suppressant. Increase your physical activity and watch what you eat! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

David: Here is one from my quit journal that I thought you might enjoy...This was 18 days or so into the quit...God knows I have been running ever since... nonic Jan 13, 2007 (06:58 AM) Reply | Quote Posts: 788 Joined: Dec 31, 2006 Gender: Male Country: United States Hobbies: Being endlessly amused 380316 First let me say thank you all for being out there. This has been a priceless resource for me. There have been times that I have just sat here and read the posts and knew that I was not alone in this. Thank you all for sharing your personal highs and lows. Although winning ones freedom from this addiction is a personal journey and decision, and each soul experiences the trek in his or her own way, the commonality of insights is inspiring to me. Thank you all for sharing the good the bad and the ugly of it. I had a major struggle with the old boy this morning, having awakened at 4:00 AM to the cold steel of an anxiety attack. I know full well the source of this mental pain, but the old remedy was no longer availabe and having made it this far I was not about to turn tail now. I had terrible dry mouth and sores (probably from injesting way to many altoids and sharp peppermint over the last few days. I would rather smell like a peppermint leaf than a tobacco leaf any day. I got a good hot shower and went out into the predawn. In the old days I would have stood and stared at the sky while sucking down a cancer stick, but this time I managed to just start walking. I began my usual mantra of positive self talk, remembering why I started this quest in the first place, feeling the added depth in my lungs, being thankful for the cleansing that was taking place. Soon I stepped up the pace. Bringing myself to an awareness of all the good and positive things in my life, I let the street beneath my feet slip by at a faster pace. In time I was running, the sun was just throwing out its rays in the eastern sky and the buildingw where flying by. I don't know how many miles I did this morning, but I will tell you this, I managed to run farther and faster than that old demon and that is all that matters to me. Take heart when you are feeling weak in your resolve, and know that you are not feeble, you are not lacking in the courage to continue. Each day is a victory for you, even though each moment is a trial. You have a great power within you to alter your perceptions and when you start to do that you will leave that wretched creature far behind you sucking dust and the poison that is its very nature. Thank you all for making yourselves bet nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 249 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,470 Amount Saved: $1,743.00 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 12 Mins: 48 Seconds: 51
