I just stopped this morning and it is difficult. I have smoked for 40 years and have hated it for 39.5. I am thankful for this site as I read about others who have succeeded before me. I pray someday I can council people and help them to stop smoking. Thank you for the site and thank you for helping me be successful with something that is so important to me.

David, If you use the patch, some members have advised of sleepless nights and vivid dreams. You may want to take it off before bed and slap it on first thing in the morning. Some people experience sleep disruption during this period. It is usually related to the physical withdrawal of nicotine. Although uncomfortable, it is normal. Your body is readjusting. In most cases, it will stop shortly. If it persists more than a few days or is severe, check with your doctor. Note: Keep in mind that psychological withdrawal symptoms can also cause sleep disturbance. For example, you can lie awake feeling frustrated or anxious knowing that you aren't having that first cigarette upon awakening. Your routine has changed where you aren't anticipating that cigarette anymore. The solution would be to have something in place to do upon arising. Perhaps taking a shower right away or exercising would be beneficial. TIPS -Exercising can help to manage your withdrawal easier overall. -Watch your caffeine intake, especially after 6 pm. Drink decaffeinated coffee or herbal teas. -A routine to relax your body at night helps some people fall asleep. Use deep breathing and relaxing techniques and begin an evening ritual. Hope this helps, Josie, Support Specialist

Loved to read your messages and feed back Kelly and Unhooked !! - Thanks a lot I see clearer now and will make it through. My bad as it is indeed my 16th day and not 12th - guess it is a good sign to "loose" count :) Hope you are well and let's all keep it up Cheers David My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 340 Amount Saved: $1,020.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 54 Seconds: 20

Hi David! Sleep is very irregular for me as well. I used to sleep like a rock ALL THE TIME. Since I quit, I sleep a lot lighter and wake up frequently during the night. I am hoping that will resolve itself soon as Unhooked said it did for her. I have read others say they have had similar experiences and also that it resolved itself w/in a few weeks. So...what's the deal saying you have 12 days? By my calculations (and your quit meter), you have 16 days! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 510 Amount Saved: $99.45 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 14 Mins: 30 Seconds: 4
