Hi. My name is Terri. My official quit date is Aug 4. I found this site several weeks ago and was trying to convince myself to quit by going cold turkey. Well last week I came down with a cold that was so bad that I was off of work for an entire week and I am still coughing. I did what a lot of smokers do and went and bought myself a pack of menthols because I couldn't smoke my regulars. Note, I was prescribed prednisone, a nebulizer(sp?), singulair, and a two different inhalers because I could not breath. By Friday I decided I must be an idiot trying to continue smoking when it hurt so much. I have been hearing good things about Chantix, so I called my dr. and asked if he would allow me to try it. On Friday I started my Chantix and have been doing well. My worst time is in the evening when I am at home with my husband who is a smoker. But I haven't had a full cig since Friday. I am able to make it through work with no cravings. I still go outside with the smoking crew so I can talk and I haven't had any problems. Thanks for letting me tell my story. This site is a wonderful tool. I am excited and confident I can kick this stupid habit!! Terri :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -30 Amount Saved: $-7.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -10639
