Hi. I'm on day 2 of my quit. My last smoke was on Sunday night (4/2). I'm using the patch, have a huge supply of sugar-free candy & gum, have stocked up on healthy snacks, made my motivation list, etc... -- all the stuff you're suppose to do. BUT, I'm still having a REALLY tough time. My mind is starting to mess with me...thinking of justifications for smoking and trying to quit another time... I'm fighting hard but don't know if I can keep going. I've been smoking for 15 years - around 1.5 packs/day. HELP! Rusty, Wow! You are very inspiring to me. You have a lot of time under your belt after 40 years of smoking! What was your personal motivation for quitting? I'm finding this website & everyone's writings to be soooo helpful. Right now, every single minute is a struggle and then an accomplishment for me. Question.... I have to admit, my Nicodemon is kind of plotting a relapse in my head....thinking about this weekend. Any advice on how to stop this evil voice? The mental challenge is incredibly difficult. But, I've made it into Day 3, and what I'm hearing is that it gets a little better after the first three days....I pray that this is true! Smiling Spider - Yummy! Peeps are my favorite! I agree...Day 3 is killing me too! I'm actually afraid to eat because: (1) Food is such a trigger for me --- I would always smoke after I ate (even if it was just a snack), and (2) Since my last smoke on Sunday evening, I've been constipated - smoking always helped with that whole thing! I've been living on fruit & fiber since Sunday, but no luck yet! :gasp: I guess this should all serve as a reminder of what an all-encompassing force/control smoking has had over my life. SmilingSpiders, Thanks for your note. It helps to know I'm not alone. I've made it to Day 3. My head is filled with doubts & negative thinking, but I'm trying to fight this. Also, I woke up this morning with a sore throat & sick feeling - I assume this is part of w/d. Wow - I'm really whining a lot. Sorry. Hope you're still hanging in there with me! You're right. No more stinky clothes, hair, skin, & breath. No more sneaking around to have smokes. We can enjoy a meal without rushing to the pack immediately after. We can spend time with our families without plotting smoke breaks. We can gain extra days, weeks, months, and years to our lives. I'm taking this one hour at a time (can't quite do the one day at a time thing yet).
