I guess your right N2K, there is not much of a difference. Good point. I thought it was something innocent..but i see it differently now, I will get rid of the cig. And i will get rid of all things that remind me of smoking like marie said. Thanks.

Well I made it threw another night. I stopped and realized it's almost been 5 days since I had a cig and it feels like forever. This site is helpful. I keep having my dreams of smoking, weird. I have a single cig sitting on my dresser, that's been there since I stopped. I guess I keep it there for comfort purposes. lol I don't know! I ain't been feeling good since I stopped smoking, and I sleep way too much. I thought I should be feeling better. I hope all this stuff passes soon, so I can get back into my routine of things! Cigarettes Not Smoked

I also kept cigarettes when i first quit, almost a whole pack in one of my purses in my closet. I think it was like a security blanket, like you know if you really really need it it is there, but because it is there you won't freak out so much. This was how I thought the first few days. Then around day 15 I ripped each one into tiny pieces into the garbage. It was one of the most empowering things I have ever done. But I needed to know they were there the first few days, for some reason. I also have dreams about smoking- like in my dream I have already smoked a cigarette and I feel sooo guilty. The dream starts after I have had that smoke. Really wierd. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Welcome Jess! I too have been sleeping a lot, but I figure it's my body telling me what I need. I am glad you are going to get rid of that cig on the dresser; in fact I hope you have already done so. I could not tolerate one sitting there, it would haunt me! Brrrrrrrrrr! You say you thought you would be feeling bettter, but how long did you smoke? Don't be so hard on yourself, you didn't get addicted overnight, you won't "get over it" in a few days, either. There are over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes, and who knows what interactions there are with our bodies? Of course we don't feel well when we are "detoxing"! You are doing excactly as expected, so just take care of yourself, ok? Stay cool! Hi Jess- It does get better!!! You will go through alot of ups and downs, doubting yourself, think of reason to smoke, not to smoke. You quit, you have made it this far do not go back there. I always remember the 1st week was horrible and I never want to go through that again. I used to keep smokes in my car just in case I got into an accident. I have not been in an accident for over 10yrs...junkie me!!!! ;) And the time will dragggggggggg but that gets better too. Hang in there your are doing great!!!! Jess hi, this is all normal, you're in withdrawal, you will feel better promise, just be patient. As for the cig, my advise is to get rid of it along with other things that remind you of smoking. Take the leap you will be happier you succeeded. Hi Jess - Good for you! A great deal of wisdom in N2k's words... that cigarette is a slip waiting to happen... Sleeping was one of my coping skills, and our bodies are healing, so sleep is a good, loving thing right now. Try to stay in the moment and not judge ... You're actually doing beautifully!! Congratulations on your huge 5 days... Just keep putting one foot in front of the other...
