Hi Valic, I was on day 6 yesterday. Boy was it tough. I posted here, breathed, drank lots of water, ate fruit and made it through to today. :) It gets easier each day. Cigarettes Not Smoked

For some reason, I feel like there is a pressure inside my body. And its building. My mind keeps saying if you just have one puff you will be ok. I am trying to distract myself at work by doing some filing that I put off. But I can feel my body wanting the nicotine. I thought after 3 days the nicotine goes away. Maybe my body is just taking longer but I hope it stops soon cuz I feel like I am going to pop! Well the craving is still here but I am munching on grapes. It is not as intense as it was this morning though. That I am grateful for. I thank all of you for the wonderful advice. At lunch I took a walk around my building even though its like 90 degrees here in Massachussettes. I had to do something! But as of now I am still smoke free!!! Yay! ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 33 Amount Saved: $31.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 9 Seconds: 9

Valic, Have you tried walking or exercise? Hang in there they don't call it hell week for nothing. I won't kid you the first two weeks are hard. But it DOES get easier. Remember to breath, breath, breath... Come here and post and read. There are a lot of worse things than getting over the craving. No one ever died over cravings Valic and you are in the heat of the battle for your life. It will get better Valic. Navigator. I think I made a post on day 8 which came out of the blue, I felt like my head was going to explode. My head was having a drama! Oh it wanted nicotine oh it wanted this.. You wont feel normal if you dont smoke etc etc.. you know the whole thing.. I thought i would be a mentally deranged person for the rest of my life. Well apart from one thing. Once i had quit for 3 months, so knew that this would pass. I would tell myself. Not TODAY, tomorrow is another day. I would get through that day and sure enough tomorrow often wasnt (although sometimes it was worse) so bad.. As time goes on, you dont think about smoking so much, the freedom is great. Your life does not exist around a clock of smoking. Either mentally smoking or mentally craving... suddenly you are free and those mental thoughts become less and less. Hang in tehre, its still early days. It will be worth it. Keep going! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 917 Amount Saved: 270 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 5 Mins: 33 Seconds: 37

Valic, Although the nicotine may leave your body in the first few days after your quit, the cravings won't. Start planning how will deal with those cravings, you're doing a good job already trying to distract yourself. Do you have a reward system in place? What you may be feeling is anxiety. For this you can try to sleep it off or you can get up and get moving. Physical activity may help you rid your body of all that nicotine related tension. Hope this helps, Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team
