Smelling Cigs

The smell of cigarettes makes me want to puke. I wish they would get rid of smoking in public places because there are many establishments that I can no longer go to without feeling sick. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I don't care if smoking smelled like roses ... I would not like the smell of it. After reading everything I've read and then just yesterday in the news the Surgeon General put out an article/study on second hand smoke which is more than likely going to make it much easier to have smoking in public places banned. If they do not start banning smoking, there are going to be lawsuits eventually with people claiming that second hand smoke from ex. their workplace, contributed to their disease. shadoww, Your body must be healing. The worst thing you could do is smoke again! Let your body trust you and heal! Shadoww, Maybe your brain is playing tricks on you or maybe it's from when you use to smoke. Even though you may not have smoked in these places, the scent of old smoke was still attached to your clothes and you sat in all these places. It's a little far fetched but I suppose it's possible. Have any other members experienced this? Either way, you could try washing the places that smell like smoke. If they still smell after you've washed them, you'll know the phantom smoke smell is real. ;) Let us know what you discover, Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Rainne, As you can see this is very common among quitters. If ever you should crave as a result of smelling the smoke, just put the tools from your quit plan into action. Hope this helps and congratulations on 25 days! Danielle _______________________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Rainne, I think that a lot of us have suffered with this one. When I first quit, I was attracted to the smell. If you're in two minds over the smell, I think that you may be getting to the stage in your quit where you you soon ONLY find it repulsive. I can't exactly remember when this happened and I can't remember when I last smelt cigarette smoke and thought it was attractive. Hope this helps Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 132 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,964 Amount Saved: 990 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 0 Mins: 43 Seconds: 39

I also like the smell! Wierd but I do. I don't want to smoke! I stay away from smokers for the most part but not all together. I feel like I am going to have to come to terms with people smoking around me so I might as well begin now! Hi Rainne, 25 days is awesome first off!!! I know in the beginning of my quit, the very first week, day 3 in fact, I was in the office and right outside the window a man was smoking. I didn't see anyone at first, I was just typing and then I smelt IT. (blah!) IT was horrible when I smelt it for the first time sinced I had just quit. In fact, it repulsed me for the first few weeks in the beginning. But it started to taper off after around 30 days, so it didn't bother me to the point of repulsion that I had first experienced. It was rather now just walk fast and don't breath it in. Then around 40-50 days it became much better. I would smell it and it had no effect on me. Now, at almost 80 days in, when I smell it, it is almost enjoyable, like the smell of coffee first thing in the morning. So it is like an outdoorsy kind of smell for me now and I admit there are still times that I can't stand it and other times are much better. I suppose it works similarly to the days some craves are worse than others, and some there are none at all, so with smell it may affect us also. Some days are worse than others, some days it will have no affect at all. Keep up the fantastic quit Rainne!! Many Blessings, Eve My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 624 Amount Saved: $234 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 13 Mins: 36 Seconds: 10

I dreamt I had smoked a whole pack and then I felt so guilty for doing it. It was so very real too! I smelled the cig smoke in my dreams and I could actually taste them! It scared me b/c I thought I was smoking again. I woke up w/ a racing heartbeat and realized it was only a nightmare! ACK! I decided tonight I will not sleep w/ the patch on.
