It is all positive right now but mostly it is different. You know too that even positive can cause stress if the load is too much. Like weddings, "I'm so happy I'm sad" that sort of thing. Not a bad thing but it could be confusing to the beginners here that don't understand there will be some stress as life changes. Been through this so it is more acceptable to me. It will pass as I get used to the changes in my life. So will they but right now it may feel like they are not progressing and the load seems too large.
Break it down into smaller steps and be patient is the answer. But it can seem endless, it isn't.

Life has changed for me. It was like I was edging along a cliff with a blind fold on. The blindfold is off. It is still the same cliff but now the view is fantastic. Throw in a few sunsets and it will be even better.

Davit,
That gardening analogy really helps, since I've spent so much more time there.  I think the fear of throwing away physcial materials is actually my fear of facing myself, instead of the "stuff" around me, so I can't face myself, by keeping "busy" with the distractions.  It's actually a fear of dying, I think, and the limited time we have left.

One person told me she feels with age, that shedding is something we wish to do not to burden those we leave behind.

It's reasuring to know at a mature age, one can still change!

Hi Davit,

Ridding of negative thoughts or foods are good suggestions.  I always assume it means ridding of material possessions...   It's helpful to learn other perspectives!
Any positive outcomes with the changes in your life right now?

Maybe you could part with one little negative routine, a day or even a week since this is a slow process this recovery. That routine might be hoarding, it might not. It might be OCD. It might be a food you have been trying to drop. Or just negative thoughts.

Hugs, you know when you pull a weed out it leaves a spot for a seed to start. If you don't put one in or keep it bare a weed seed will start there. Anxiety is just like that. Just when you think you are winning in creeps the weeds.

Davit.

Ps. My life is changing so much right now I don't know where to begin. I'm throwing out and replacing both thoughts and materials and the one is effecting the other very much. It is making me anxious and restless. Good thing I have CBT.

Hi Hugs,

Interesting challenge by WMuller - to part with something each week.  Definitely not an easy task, but I can see how it would help with the 'release' and feeling lighter.

Members, could you take on this challenge?  What would you part with this week?
What would you find most difficult to part with?

Quote of the Day:
You can do what you want to do, accomplish what you want to accomplish, attain any reasonable objective you may have in mind - not all of a sudden, perhaps not in one swift and sweeping act of achievement - but you can do it gradually, day by day and play by play, if you want to do it, if you work to do it, over a sufficiently long period of time.
- William E. Holle

“Thinning is...making space for life. We plant so many seeds, and they seem so small, so benign, they take up hardly any space at all. But everything, as it grows, needs space. Children, a home, a career, a project, hobby, a spiritual practice, everything needs space and everything needs time. And as each grows, each takes from the other, and nothing grows from beneath the surface, it is all foliage and greenery aboveground, and no nutrition beneath. Sooner or later it all withers from lack of nourishment”.

This is from my favourite book now called Sabbath by WMuller, where he describes how we shed things. After this description, he challenges the reader to discard something weekly, and feel the “release.”

Hi Hugs:   Oh boy, I know what you mean about throwing things out.  I had a yardsale over the long wknd.  I cleared out the basement, something I had wanted to do for ages.  Tired of having stuff down there that I never used or was saving for the children - who are adults now.  Some pangs were felt from old memories, but it was good to get rid of it.  Still going through stuff, right now it is the cupboards.  I must have over 20 vases. (I used to be a floral designer and love floral bouquets from the garden).  Anyway, down to about 8 now.  I also had materials for sewing, and now found out I could make a baby quilt for someone, too late, I sold the baby materials.  Not the end of the world.  I still have some things packed and ready to give away.  I learned there will be a charity yardsale at the end of the month.  I've called them and they will come pick up.
Change is difficult sometimes, but that's the one constant in life, change.  Too much "stuff" makes it chaotic.  I'm ready to downsize and just keep what I need.

Apparently the Irish know how to make a person look forward to going to hell, according to a sign I saw from a mentor I once had.

There's something about change that frightens people though.  I'd been thinking about throwing away an old pot, and let mom knew for a while, since I have problems letting go.  Today I threw it away, but I still have such an issue with this!

This reminds me of the reference to babies in diapers being the only ones who look forward to change.  What's in it for them is being dry, warm, cared for gently, fresh air, attention and looking forward to repeating the experience until one becomes independent.

Hi:  Reminds me of how to make an offer someone can't refuse.  Often when people are offered something  they think of their "WIFM".  On the other side of the coin are those offering that something and to be successful will try to figure out how to meet this person's "WIFM".  (What's In It For Me?)
With this program we are being offered an opportunity to regain our balance in life.  Will you take the opportunity?  So What's In It For You?  What's in it for you is health and peace of mind.

Sunny
