bad night

Hi all,
thanks for getting back to me.
Unfortunately I had 2 more attacks since Sat morning - one on Sunday around lunch, and another one yesterday as I was heading to a doctor's appointment. Of course I took my ativan, I freaked out (as the episodes were too close together and I honestly did not expect that to happen) and so on... Last night I spent most time tossing and turning, I felt my whole body shaking, vibrating - horrible horrible feelings that continued into the morning. Today I did not feel like doing much so I spent most time in bed trying to relax (I even put some music on, music that has helped in the past) and I still feel on the edge.
I did not even feel like being able to read more of the info on this site, let alone do any homework... :(
My psychologist is not exactly helping much - the session we had yesterday left me confused, I couldn't even focus on what she was telling me at one point (might be because of the ativan?!?)... guess I just had a couple of bad days.

Hi D:  sounds good re: gift cards and on line gift buying to make it easier for yourself this year.  I hope you do go out sometime though to the shops, just to see the holiday spirit in the decorations and to feel the spirit too all around you, hear some of the music, etc.  Don't have to stay long, just as long as you want, have a hot chocolate or something and enjoy.

I haven't been posting much, but i do read every now and then.

Keep up the positives!  It will come naturally with practice.

Hi Alex, I just read you're post and my heart goes out too you! I am hoping and praying its a better day for you today, I have had nights like that too I am so glad you settled down and had a good sleep, sleep is so good, the body relaxes so much.

I wanted to tell you about my mom-in-law, she had to go to the hospital for colitis for  seven days, she is 88 yrs old so I think they were being cautious, unfortunately, and Davit and I discussed this in another post, he is wonderful, that hospitals do NOT give patients there daily meds, my husband found this out too, the reason I bring this up is my mom-in-law had bad anxiety and shaking because they did NOT give her her ativan, I am just wondering if you were having a little withdrawal? You said you had not taken it for ten days, I hope this makes you feel better, anotherwords the panic you felt was from not having the ativan for ten days, I know cold-turkey is rough, can you wean down on it, like take a half? I do that with my klonopin and a half seems too help and take the edge off somewhat. I do not know I am just taking a guess here.

I so understand what you mean about that tired weak wobbly feeling, been there done that so many times but the good news is that it goes away with rest and sleep, I am so glad you got through it, that is such good news! I hope today is better.

Dont worry about shopping, you have plenty of time before Christmas, Saturday is a busy day for shopping, I am going to buy most of my gifts online this year Alex, OR gift cards, people love them, I am going to try to make it simple for myself, I notice people love those pre-paid gift cards, and you are in and out! Please let me know how you are doing, that is interesting about the eyeball massage, my husband sees a cardioligist too, I am going to let him know so he can talk too his doctor about it. I find a nap helps after a bad night, I hope you are better and I understand.

alex,

Looks like you used some coping mechanism to progress through this attack and you came out well!

Good for you for posting this and good for you for pushing back!

Take some relaxation and move forward!

Awesome!

Hi Alex - I'm sorry that you had such a bad night.  It can be so frustrating to have a setback after so many good days.  You sound like you have a very positive attitude.  I am hopeful that you will enjoy a nice good stretch of time without so much anxiety.  I remember having a setback about a month ago, when I had to use the Ativan instead of CBT.  I felt a little defeated but I remember the good folks in this community helped me to continue on with my homework and practice.  It feels really wonderful to be making progress on my goals and I wish you a similar feeling soon!

Hi there,
I don't even know if I should post this here but I'll do it anyway, not because I like to complain, but I feel that getting this off my chest will help me move on easier (I know I'm selfish sometimes).
I had 2 attacks last night - first one was mild, in10 minutes I was back to sleep - sweaty palms, shaking legs, hard to breath, chest tightness, a bit of a headache ... you know what I'm talking about (unfortunately). I did not want to take any pills, so I was so relieved to fall back asleep quite fast. Yeah rite! Couple of hours later (or so I think) I woke up to feel my heart racing, my chest tightening, palms sweating, legs, arms, body shaking etc the whole 9 yards of it. My heart slowed down relatively fast - my cardiologist explained a couple of techniques that usually work - this time I pressed gently on my eyeballs for a couple of seconds at a time and I could feel the heart going back to normal (by the way don't do this unless you have talked to a doctor first). But my body was shaking pretty badly - the whole bed was shaking with me (or so it felt) and I couldn't take it anymore I took an ativan (after 10 days of not taking any - yay me!) . Took me 1/2 hour to calm down, but even now I feel shaky, wobbly, weak and soooooooooooooo tired.
The good thing though is that I managed to stay calm this time I kept repeating to myself that it will go away soon - I mean, I've been in this situation before, I knew that it would come to an end sooner or later, and at the end of it I'd be unharmed, just tired. Still IT SUCKS.
So instead of going out shopping today, I'll just try to get some rest and hopefully wake up with a refreshed perspective.
Happy weekend everyone!
Alex
