Gloomy Economy Forecasts Aren´t Helping My Concerns About Money...How About You?

13 years ago 0 6252 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I find money issues are attached to performance. It shows here in the posts sometimes.
If you don't have money then you are not as good as some one who does? Not so but that is how we treat it.

Money is necessary, but I know my limitations. I may be less of a man because of my age and disability but I still know who I am. I may have to fight my core beliefs on this one but I still like me. I'm no less capable for being poor.

Don't we all have some fear of not having enough money?

I was paying attention to the news, however money issues have always been something else to worry about, day to day since our upbringing was from war-torn Europes penniless immigrants....

Sunny.

So you can watch it and sift it and tell me about it and I won't have too. It will keep the negative away since you are so positive and I get sucked in by all their negative dramatization. (do they still do that) I do seem to be such a pessimist towards the news, or is it just the presentation. I did try to watch the news in the hospital but just couldn't get interested. Just not my thing I guess. It does seem to bother me more than you.

Hello:  I care very much about what's going on in the world.  I'm a part of this world too.  I try and read between the lines when hearing or reading news.  I'm no expert but I do try and keep informed.  How else am I going to decide how to vote?  I feel sorry for the US President trying to move forward and onward but constantly being held back.  I'm interested how Greece's economics are affecting us.

Hugs.

Is this conditioning? I mean, I don't have a TV and I don't listen to the news. Funny word that since there is nothing new, it has all been done before and we have somehow survived it.

So If it bothers you, why do it? Are you tied to it, does it impact your income? Me, I'm on a pension so it might but not enough for me to concern myself with. I don't know who the President is or who my Prime Minister is. I don't know their policies and have to admit I don't care. Is this a survival skill I'm using to keep anxiety at bay, or do I not care? I don't know. I do know I can't be bothered worrying about things I have no say in.

I'm presuming you are in the States when you talk about economy. I have heard things about it over coffee and none of it good. It will impact us, but since I'm out of the loop (work force) what ever happens I can do nothing about it. Ride it out I guess, But my belt is already so tight I can hardly breath. I've always been one for self sufficiency so I'm less affected. Big garden, orchard, wood lot, and the knowledge to fix most everything myself. I have a home (paid for) food and enough money to keep my visa paid. I guess I'm okay, definitely better than a lot.

Truth of the matter is that I think I don't want to know how bad the world is around me because I'm too sensitive and it will bother me. (escapism) It is a personal choice, do I need the stress.
What would you do if you never watched the news again? Would you get withdrawal symptoms? Has it become such a part of your life that you need it? And really, do you need it or is it just a habit? The news can be very negative.

Good thread this. Any one else affected?

I wish I didn't listen to the news, since there is a gloomy forecast internationally, and politicians constantly dodging the issues.

It's hard enough to keep grounded in a "normal" economy, but now there are more pressures.

It's not that I'm materialistic, since I've felt so miserable that I don't feel brave enough to get out, and now I don't have the energy...until my tests come back to me.

Anybody else feeling "pinched" in any way?
