Is this conditioning? I mean, I don't have a TV and I don't listen to the news. Funny word that since there is nothing new, it has all been done before and we have somehow survived it.
So If it bothers you, why do it? Are you tied to it, does it impact your income? Me, I'm on a pension so it might but not enough for me to concern myself with. I don't know who the President is or who my Prime Minister is. I don't know their policies and have to admit I don't care. Is this a survival skill I'm using to keep anxiety at bay, or do I not care? I don't know. I do know I can't be bothered worrying about things I have no say in.
I'm presuming you are in the States when you talk about economy. I have heard things about it over coffee and none of it good. It will impact us, but since I'm out of the loop (work force) what ever happens I can do nothing about it. Ride it out I guess, But my belt is already so tight I can hardly breath. I've always been one for self sufficiency so I'm less affected. Big garden, orchard, wood lot, and the knowledge to fix most everything myself. I have a home (paid for) food and enough money to keep my visa paid. I guess I'm okay, definitely better than a lot.
Truth of the matter is that I think I don't want to know how bad the world is around me because I'm too sensitive and it will bother me. (escapism) It is a personal choice, do I need the stress.
What would you do if you never watched the news again? Would you get withdrawal symptoms? Has it become such a part of your life that you need it? And really, do you need it or is it just a habit? The news can be very negative.
Good thread this. Any one else affected?
