Handling Death

13 years ago 0 538 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Everyone,
Death...the end...I've got two mindsets on it....as you know, I work with the elderly , most have dementia....and some lay in the bed for months..barely breathing..so when they die I look at it as a blessing..I really feel that its putting them out of their misery.
But for young people...it just sucks! My niece died in a car accident two years ago last month..she was only 22...a little sweetie...the other two young women in the car survived with only bruising. Why her?
~m...I'm sorry to hear about your son...that's really tough. You should be very proud of him...as a soldier's wife I understand..everyday I think.."Hubby, if you die over there I'm going to be really mad at you! "ha...true though.
I guess the only thing we can do is  make sure our loved ones know how much we care. And accept death as something we cannot control. That 's the tough one for me

Everyone,

I am so sorry for you losses as I am for the losses I have had..We will never forget the ones we have lost..I do miss them all and at the same time I try to remember to love the ones that are close to me now..Like a book of poems I have titled
"If Only I knew"  by Lance Wubbels  which is a book of gentle reminders to help you treasure the people in your life.

 ~m

I’m thankful for the unselfish service of your son which provided for a safety, services and opportunities  for me in the small world I struggle to live in.
I try hard to live more fully each day to give more meaning to your loss.

Hello all.... I wish I had some advice or comfort to offer.  It's been 4 years since our son died in the Iraqi war and we are still trying to get some sense of balance back into our lives.  Grief is .... i dunno, sometimes, it just is ...  it IS.  But, somehow we carry on and it makes our heart more tender to those who suffer similarly.  I don't know exactly how you feel, but I feel for you with some sense of commonality.  I wish I knew how to be more helpful with regard to this topic which is really so very much more than a topic.  Words fail ........

Tam,
I miss my dad after a lifetime.
One day I was rolling on the floor laughing from a joke he told us, and we hugged.
Next day he was gone.
With different degrees of losses, I find it hard to let go.

Thanks for the replies. You are so right Kevin about needing to be in control and whats totally scary about panic attacks is you feel like you've lost it. You observe you body and mind reacting in a way that you don't want but it just seems to happen. I've been doing much better so thanks again for the replies.
