Thank you.  And I feel you are correct.   The discomfort of sadness or anger can feel overwhelming at times, and I used alcohol to help deaden that feeling.  This will be a new journey of recognition and trying to offer a little more kindness to myself.   Becoming more aware of when I am in my head.

Welcome to the forums Bi. Internal discomfort leads to compulsive thinking, keeps us in the misery and all our mind could think of is that only way out, which is alcohol. Looking from that perspective we do not have a choice. However, when we start addressing them we do bring in awareness and we do start thinking sanely.

My first day.  And the first thing I read was that I was responsible for my choice to drink.  What?   I was told this is something that takes over the brain ...not a choice  I suddenly felt sadness and anger.  Sadness that I could have had better control over my choices. .  Anger that I didn’t when I have always been an in control person.  Sadness....does that mean I should have had control over all the things that happened to me in my life?   Awareness, that I don’t think so...now sadness for that hurt has lead me to the choice I made to bury the hurt and what I have felt and feel.  And then anger again.

I am so happy to see what I have read so far. Today I was hit just that fact that I was not honest with myself regarding who I am. Through the Haze and Pain this truth got through a crack where some light was. I have not been true to Myself! It is my turning point. Above all else...…...be true to thyself or what else is there?

Black Pearl, first of all, congratulations on making a whole month brandy-free! That is amazing, especially with your medication issues. Are you completely off the citalopram by now? When are you starting your new one?

To find our new discussion, go back to the Forums home page, then look at the "Dealing With Urges" forum. Our new thread is called MoGa, so it should be easy to see. I hope you slept well, and we'll see you there.

Hi Turquoise,
First, I can't see your new thread, second, I don't want to leave this thread, it seems to me it is our origin. : )  (the Mogas).

How about the rest of the Moga Ladies, are you all doing fine with your weekend, your jobs, your family life and your drinking.....
I am pretty restless since last night, but I tried to keep myself busy and without any drinks, just keep it only 1 or 2 fruit wine cooler a day.
Tomorrow is Tuesday, time flies, it is a whole month I qiut from brandy. I have to make it 2 months, 3 months...thanks for all the supports, wiith you all here in the thread, I think I have the courage to get through it.

I groom my bunny everynight and after that, she will sleep next beside me while I am checkiing online. So I need to be sober to give her her quality time everynight. To me, she is only a 'bunny form' of human being. (no offensive). She is part of my life.

Sleep Beauty time again, tomorrow is another day and best wishes to all Moga Ladies, try to say the word 'moderation' every morning when we woke up.  It helps!  : )
Sleep tight and have sweet dreams.

Welcome Spiritwolf,
Glad you joined the AHC online community for help and support.  You will find support from a number of members here who can relate to what you are feeling and your struggles to regain control of your drinking habits.
Have you a plan in place to help you refrain or avoid drinking?  Have you identified what your triggers are?
Have you tried quitting or cutting back in the past?  If so, what did you find helpful and what did you find most challenging?
