I have chocolate every day!! Pref Cadbury's chocolate :D I like it with my wine and cheese. A small reward :D Of course I am up to 3 laps (over a mile) around the building at work to make sure I don't put on even more weight!! I walk so I can have chocolate!! Prevention magazine says chocolate is one of five things that are good for burning belly fat. So I say bring it on LOL. You know when I was raising my children I always had candy bars on hand. I told them it was "Mommy's meds. They never bothered or took any of them even when they knew better. Thanks, I like to remember good things. fussyone, Great job on those 3 weeks quit! I found this on the web:
Like other palatable sweet foods, consumption of chocolate triggers the release of endorphins, the body's endogenous opiates. Enhanced endorphin-release reduces the chocolate-eater's sensitivity to pain. Endorphins probably contribute to the warm inner glow induced in susceptible chocoholics.
Maybe you are hooked on the "warm inner glow"! Exercise also releases endorphins. You've become an endorphin-junkie ;p LOL This could lead to the start of a new support website, the CEC - Chocolate Eaters Center! Well, the chocolate and endorphins are infinitely better than tar and nicotine so I think you are alright. LOL, Hey Fussyone! Don't worry so much about a few pounds. You have quit smoking and that is so very important to your health, far more important than even gaining twenty pounds. Chocolate won't kill you, cigarettes will! I read that there is new research, that chocolate is one of the 'good fats' that can actually help you lose weight, when eaten in moderation. Also, chocolate is a helpful quit aid (Read that somewhere too) So don't give it up all the chocolate, it is good for you. You will find that the cravings for chocolate will ease up down the road as well. I lived on chocolate covered peanuts for the first three months, and then it eased up, and the weight gain eases up too! You just have to use common sense! :) But ahh....You can still send some to Todash! Hello Fussyone, It's absolutely normal to have your weight fluctuate expecially when exercising. Your body composition is changing and you will notice this in the inches. It's recomended that you weigh yourself daily, that way you will be able to see that the fluctuation is normal, you should also keep into consideration water retention and menstrual cycle, which could also play a factor in the higher number on the scale. It's also common to replace a bad habit with another one. If you think you are consuming abnormal amounts of chocolate, try limiting yourself and slowly decreasing the amount and frequency of your consumption. I would also suggest drinking plenty of water, this may help to curb your urge to snack on chocolate. Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Well you too it doesn't look like i'm doing anything about the chocolate - well i kind of had - already this morning i decided that the best thing to do is eat all the chocolate in the house. There were only four two bar kit kats left - and i had to eat them all...see how bad i am? Anyway now i have none left in the house (my daughter will not be happy about that!) i won't buy any more. So if i want some i have to make the effort to go to the shop, so its likely i'll eat less chocolate. I haven't really had any cravings for cigarettes at all - but this chocolate craving thing is driving me mad - i think about it all the time. Must be some kind of transferrance or something. And NOOOOOOOOOOOO your not having the chocolate (they all want the chocolate my precious...starting to feel like i'm in 'lord of the rings'). Yeah goofy - three weeks :) :8|: i'm really pleased about that. Ok suppose i need to get on with work rather than eating chocolate. xxxx My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 525 Amount Saved: 131.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 15 Mins: 0 Seconds: 52

Hi fussyone, I started eating peanuts like crazy. This eventually quieted down. You've got 3 weeks, which is terrific! I don't think you should worry too much about a few pounds from chocolate. Right now, just worry about not smoking. Last night I had to go to a wake for a friend's wife. She was 59! She was a smoker and had so many health problems. She didn't have cancer, but died of a heart attack. She also had emphysema. Take care or your insides, and worry about the weight later. Stay strong in your quit, you're doing it! Wellllllllll... You can always send the chocolate to me and you wouldn't have it around to be eating!? Yes? No? Damn. ;) Ok then, how's this...I've had stage after stage of 'man I can't get enough of X' and 'doesn't Y taste like heaven' but chocolate has remained all the while. How have I dealt with it? By avoiding chocolate bars and cookies, and instead I drink a diet Cadbury's packet (40 little calories) when the 3 pm urge hits (like clockwork I'm afraid) just to get my little taste. Your taste buds have come back to life so afraid there's not exactly a cure cos chocolate will always taste great, but I strongly urge you to not deny yourself entirely right now - try to just have a little bit for a treat. Your quit is more important than a bit of a muffin top (tho I doubt you'll get to that point with all the running). And if that's a photo of you, adjective 'minger' doesn't apply, so go have some chocolate, will ya, eh?! x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 382 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,786 Amount Saved: 2,101.00 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 12 Mins: 31 Seconds: 30
