Concerns about using NRT

Hi Sue in NC: Someone mentioned there was another couple that quit together. Congrats on that, and look at your mileage! Very impressive. I may be calling on you guys for support - so far things are still great between hubby and I. Thankfully we have a very strong relationship to start with (married 26 fabulous years)!!! :) Day 6 and we're really excited to almost see the "week from hell" gone. I'm feeling a little disoriented and light-headed today, but hopefully that won't interfere with my workload staring at me on my desk. Oh well, deep breath, and have at it! hey Jazz, DH and I quit together with Chantix, and I am so glad we had each other and that I didn't kill him during our quit :) I don't have patch advise, just wanted to say, hang tough and you guys will come out the other end better and closer together and it is sooooooo worth it. Jazz, congrats on day 5... whatever method you choose, no matter cos a non-smoker just doesn't smoke. fyi, I chose Cold Turkey because i felt i needed to experience pain & suffering for all the years i smoked. It didn't kill me but then again, i will not be going through that again anytime soon. If you Stop Smoking & Stay Stopped - you can do anything. Jazz, way to go! Sounds like you have a great attitude there. I wouldn't worry about what happens after you finish the patch course. By then you will be well into the swing of things. Just look at each day of your great new life as it happens. You will notice shortly that your sense of smell has improved dramatically. Taste will too. Jazz, The people who hang around this site are the ones who succeed. I am pleased that you are both excited about quitting because it is a wonderful to do. It's funny being here after all this time because I can not actually remember smoking anymore at all (Did I just dream those 20 plus years?). I do remember the quit though, so I try to help out where I can. Yahoo Jazz I love it. Tell your hubby to poke his nose in here from time to time it won't hurt him or is he one of those macho men. LMAO. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 293 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,274 Amount Saved: $2,930.00 Life Gained: Days: 71 Hrs: 8 Mins: 5 Seconds: 55

Thanks guys! Both of us are working really hard on changing up our routines, watching for triggers, etc. I've read a lot of information about quitting, withdrawal, what to expect, etc., as well as I attended a quit smoking seminar in early Dec., but I don't remember reading anything about what happens after the patch. I have to be confident that it will be OK. We're really excited about quitting - hubby says "his brand new lungs" are the best Xmas gift we could have given each other!! This support site is truly awesome! I'm not one to chat on-line, but will certainly make an exception for this site and spend as much time as I can reading and posting. Some amazing quit times out there - and yes, we will reach them too. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 80 Amount Saved: $30.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 36 Seconds: 14

Jazz, I used the patch through the whole programme. Some people prefer cold turkey, but I just knew it had to be 1) patch or 2) homocide! You are already doing the really tough part of the withdrawal right now (Day 5 is often the worst). When you come to step down, yes, you will notice the difference for a couple of days, but it is nothing like what you are experiencing now. Don't worry about what happens in 10 weeks time - you will be an experienced quitter by then, and take it in your stride. Just keep fighting through week 1, and make sure you have a reward for each day, and a really special one for week 1. Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1720 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,800 Amount Saved: 6,450.00 Life Gained: Days: 176 Hrs: 23 Mins: 19 Seconds: 50
