Lovemylungs, you can't ignor the addiction. You have to starve it out. Not One Puff Ever. Nope. That is the only way to loose the demon. It is tuff and will go to extremes to make you think you can smoke just one. Starve that joker to death. It takes a while but it can be done. Look at the people on here with a year or more. For most smokers, the best time to quit is tomorrow. There's unlikely to be that magical configuration of stars and moon which means your life is in perfect harmony. It may happen, but I personally wouldn't wait around for it. I understand the irony of your statement - it is exactly how I felt. I was a "reluctant" quitter, not sure if I could even do it. Goodness knows, I'd tried so many times before and failed. I think preparation and knowledge are the keys. Do the footwork here, read up on addiction, study some emphysemic and cancerous lungs on the web and tell me that doesn't help you change your mind about the "joys" of smoking. Try to reach acceptance of the fact that when you quit, you will be a non-smoker. Everyone here is testament to the fact that it can be done ... IT IS TOTALLY POSSIBLE. I guess the choice is yours - there will (may?) come a day when your desire to stop smoking finally exceeds your desire to smoke. I hope it does, because I can tell you, it's quite the little journey. You learn a lot about yourself and that's a good thing. Good luck. I hope you can make that decision. Not smoking ROCKS!
