Below is the list for Kelly that I have been working on. The best of the best of my library. The only requirement for me was they had to be 'energetic' and/or 'happy'. Some have smoking references 'Unchained' (you don't have to smoke) 'Burn it down' etc. However, like most things, I have ordered the tracks specifically. If you were going for a long walk you'd be happily pounding along in half an hour to 'Today is the greatest day i've ever known'. Before getting a little breather to rest and then continue. If you ever want to burn calories then this is great stuff (ok you might think different :) ). I have no idea why you girls would want to lose a couple of pounds. You look great! Let me know if you listen to any. :) Audioslave 'Show Me How To Live' Sepultura 'Chaos B.C.' Avenged Sevenfold 'Burn it down' Extreme 'Mutha Don't Want To Go To School Today' Smashing Pumkins 'I am One' Treponem Pal 'Unchained' Breed 77 'Blind' Type O Negative 'Black No.1' Smashing Pumpkins 'Today' Dream Theater 'The Root of all Evil' Still Remains 'Cherish' Evanescence 'Lose Control' Turin Brakes 'Underdog (Save Me)' Seefeel 'Moodswing' Anthrax 'Cowboy Song' Stephen Malkmus 'Jo JO' Living Colour 'Open Letter to a Landlord' Soundgarden 'The day I Tried to Live' Megadeth 'Back in the Day' Clawfinger 'Do What I Say' Dog Eat Dog 'Fun Lovin' The Breeders 'Cannonball' And the smoking references apart from the songs? Well lets say there was no junkie whilst compiling this lot. Anyway, this is probably the last one today from me. As others have stated. Penguin. Some really good advice you gave. I get to learn from you. Sue, eggy bread! Just to make that breakfast complete. Aloha, Yes, you are right in so many ways. Especially about those triggers. You picked two very good ones. That plus a change in season perhaps? I am back on the postive again now. Thanks for your promise. As always Aloha. Some special ESP connection going on there! I identified my quiit buddy smoking again as a definite trigger. Maybe something to do with wanting to fight someone elses niocodemons too and maybe caring too much or being alone in my quest at work. All old ground so won't go over them again. Onwards and upwards. Unhooked, you share your ESP link with Aloha perhaps?! I was going to write about being the crippled one at the back slowing the others up. Obviously, junkie thinking which has been corrected. Thanks Final bit of humour from me then. Remember the boy who called wolf stuff? Well I found out the farmer next door was breeding them, thats why I see so many :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,000 Amount Saved: 336.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 1 Mins: 19 Seconds: 45

Whilst in the bath (that patchouli does help!) I came up with what I think is the ultimate kev style analogy to explain a nicotine addiction to a lifetime non smoker, who cannot understand why people smoke, addictions or anything like that. This is a group game if you like. How would you explain? Imagine a Normal Norman/Norm. who works hard, is a nice guy/gal, pretty unadventurous, and the closest thing he/she has come to an addiction is giving money or food to the alcoholic beggar on the street. Well here's my analogy : There are two players in this game of chess. On the white pieces we have SMOKEFREE and on the black pieces we have JUNKIE. Smokefree only came to play when you quit and before that Junkie used to move both pieces. Hence junkie always won! Now he's up against some competition and clearly doesn't like it. As you would expect, as junkie has been at the board a long time, he has his own set of rules. These are : The aim of the game is to play for total control of the board (Kevins Mind) Junkie can only checkmate smokefree when Kevin smokes Smokefree can never checkmate junkie but he CAN capture most of his pieces All other rules are normal chess rules. Smokefree thinks ok, lets go. Even though I cannot checkmate him, I can maybe get him down to bare king. He should be no problem to contain then. And starts his first move. The first couple of moves show smokefree playing into a bad position. Then junkie gets over confident and starts making bad moves too. Now it seems that smokefree has the upper hand. He's captured a couple of junkies pawns. Junkie is really not happy about this as you can imagine. He much preferred it when he was playing against himself. So he comes up with an idea to distract smokfree. He says 'Hey smokefree, look over there. Hey shes nice totty right!'. Smokefree, never one to resist investigation (thats how he decided to play chess with junkie in the first place) turns around to have a look. Sneaky junkie, now moves twice and captures one of smokefrees pieces. Smokefree is turning around to play and looks confused 'I am sure there was a knight there earlier!' he thinks to himself. Anyway, by this time word of this hard fought game has got around and others have turned up to show support for their favourite player. The brothers MEMORY have turned up. The younger brother RECENT MEMORY has turned up and is supporting junkie, whilst their is a family dispute as OLDER MEMORY who remembers Kevin before he smoked has turned up supporting smokefree. Also on smokefree's side is HOPE (an optimistic girl), HAPPINESS (who likes nearly everything it seems), FRIENDSHIP (who is surfing the web maybe looking up what en-passant means or talking to other smokefree's) and CHILL (he's a really relaxed guy who likes electronica). Oh and who could forget LITTLE REWARD and BIG REWARD? They're a bit excitable and always shout 'pick me!' whenever they get looked at. On junkies side, apart from RECENT MEMORY, we have DESPAIR (who slept with HOPE and then dumped her, he's not a happy chappy), ANGER (he's a bit tempersome sometimes, a good friend with IMPATIENCE who unfortunately could not make it today as he got run over trying to cross the motorway instead of using the bridge 50 meters down the road). JEALOUSY and ENVY are lurking around somwhere (they're still a little upset about not getting the chance with HOPE after DESPAIR told them that she was a bit to happy for his liking). All of these have made it to the match and are shouting from the sidelines, except APATHY (who couldn't care who won) and BORDEDOM, APATHY's dog, who has seen everything and now wants to go home and chase the cats. Sometimes, both junkie and smokefree hear the shouts and move accordingly, sometimes only one player hears. Smokefree also has the problem of having a hamster bladder and therefore spends a lot of time in the toilet. This gives junkie plenty of chance to make extra moves. However, although junkie is very smart and devious. Smokefree has help from FRIENDSHIP who has been getting advice from other smokefrees over the internet. FRIENDSHIP whispers the moves into the ear of smokefree who then turns what looks like a losing game into a more even one. I think this game of chess is quite a battle right now and I think there will be plenty more twists and turns. With the help of smokefree's friends, in time he might have an upper hand. Tune in next time to find out. Hope you liked it. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,000 Amount Saved: 336.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 0 Mins: 55 Seconds: 35

Kev, I'm proud to be your friend & to be on this journey with you. You don't know it but as you discover things about yourself, I discover things about myself. And I don't believe I'm the only one walking with you & picking up shiny rocks along the way. Your honesty, humour, and willigness to bare your soul are examples to us all, one day or 500 days quit. I know you feel you are bringing up the rear, but in many ways, you are carrying the flag. Keep it up, my friend, people are looking to you. Absolutely right Unhooked. I find it very hard to break a promise and when I promise friends like you, aloha, kelly, penguin, sue phil etc.... ...Well (as if you didn't know already) that is a very very large part of what stops me from lighting up. I have some great non smoking friends who I don't want to let down. This is included in my analogy. I'll post it in a sec. I think it is worth it. I'll sit here writing proper personal replies too. I might brave the weather at some point. Keep fighting, Kev. We will never tell you to shut up. We (I) might tell the junkie that lives in your head to shut up. You should know that's nothing personal. You have absolutely nothing to be embarassed about & everything to be proud of! You, my friend, are 80 days a non-smoker, and you're damn right you're not giving up on it. Kev, you do not want to think about coming here & telling aloha & nance & phil & kelly that you smoked! You know we would all still love you & we would start all over again but 80 days!! You don't want to do that, you want to keep this amazing quit. You want to keep finding out things about yourself, keep discovering new feelings & emotions, keep feeling more & more powerful, keep on the road to the Kev you were meant to be. I will not smoke this weekend & neither will my friend Kev. Hi Guys, Well, I braved the weather (as I am home I could change once I was back) and put my music player on and walked for quite a long time. I pounded out my junkie if you like. Actually at the same time I was selecting a perfect kelly song! Then I volunteered to go shopping and at the same time picked up some music vouchers. I still couldn't find my super dooper Ylang Ylang & Patchouli bath foam, but I found a weaker version which may have had patchouli waved over it at some point. All of that helped tremendously. There is still part of me fighting the junkie me! So happy and relieved I didn't smoke. For the first time I can give a full day promise. I promise NOT TO SMOKE this weekend. The junkie me was playing me. Making me embarrassed how many times I wobbled and then embarrassed for writing my long and frequent posts. Telling me 'Why waste their time, go and smoke without writing'. Of course I promised to write before I smoked in a thread here somewhere. It does play on my 'mustn't say anything that can be misunderstood to be offensive' values. It knows that I care what I say and what I do. This can be an advantage (i'd go through many stages of mental torture before I smoke) and a disadvantage (I am ALWAYS defending the persecuted smoker against family who like to bring the topic up nearly every day). What I am saying of course is that something in me said 'you're not giving up this quitting yet, throw everything you can at it'. Walking, patchouli bath and lots of music. It must have worked because today I am much better. I'm settling into that positive groove again. If only for 30 mins then it is still good. I even came up with the ultimate kev analogy to explain a nicotine addiction to my dad! Anyways, love and hugs from Kevin. I have reminded my junkie that my friends here will tell me when to shut up. In the meantime I shall continue writing as normal and not worry about it too much. So now I shall whack those tunes on and continue compiling the ultimate playlist for Kelly. Happy, energetic and rocky. No electronica :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,000 Amount Saved: 336.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 0 Mins: 42 Seconds: 43
