Kelly, Cool. I'll look forward to seeing if I got your music taste sorted. :)
Unhooked, all in the bath, yes. Though I spent too long in there as my fingers went all pruney!! :) What can I say, it was nice and warm in there and freezing outside :) :)
Aloha, I am just thinking about you surfing in the middle of december! :) Nice warm water all year round. Mmm nice. I'm going to have to investigate this changes of seasons thing. Somewhere in the world there has got to be a place where they don't get seasons. I know some places have no words in their language for snow and in others they have 25! Brizzle? Ah thats drizzly snow. (Makes you go brrrr).
The junkie is back in the box for the time being. Yippee. Telling it I have permission from my no smoking friends to write did an amazing trick.
On the not going outside with my smoking workmates, its a bit of limbo type thing. I got used to smoke breaks as it was a step away from the computer (a health and safety thing). Sometimes I go get a tea, sometimes I count the pens in the stationary cupboard. Mostly I write and write and write posts here. I am sure the Health & Safety manual didn't say, in order to ensure you get 5 mins break from the computer screen, go and damage your health by smoking.
Unhooked, my analogy? it didn't work too well. I found it is very difficult to explain what you go through to a life long non smoker. Especially if you don't understand chess either :)
Maybe the short version is (reverts to caveman) 'Quitting very very hard, but smoking bad so music voucher better' :)
Actually it was something similar I used to explain why rewards are so important. 'Kev junkie want smoke so bad (like now), so music voucher take mind off struggles'
Thats because i got the 'HOW MUCH???' questions from my dad when shoppping and thought to myself that maybe I will just be a closet music voucher buyer instead of a closet smoker.
My lifestyle is often driven around the fear of what others (esp family) think.
Actually Saturday was really an upturn in getting a lot sorted. I don't feel like I have bombed a country made up of entirely cute bunny rabbits everytime I mention music vouchers now. Plus the same goes for slipping, though I hope not to do that.
ttin, Cool. I'll be checking up on how the quilt is going btw. And a big hug to you too.
Freemom, Nice to see you check in! Glad all is going well. Hope you checked the stats section. You were not forgotten :)
Right, onto my musings for today :
The legal age to buy cigarettes has increased from 16 to 18. Which sounds a much better idea. In line with drinking and voting etc. I may have mentioned before but girls around here are very successful at looking a lot older than they are. If I was a shopkeeper I would have a heck of time working out if they were legally able to buy smokes.
Of course, for some, it'll make no difference at all. As has been the same with drink for years.
I often wondered what I would do if I was in control of all these laws. Everything seems to need to be instant nowadays. Like making up for lost time. OK, banning cigarettes would seem an extreme measure as I would be cutting off a main source of income. So how about, when I was told that cigarettes were really definitely bad for us, set a rule up that the legal age of smoking increases by one year every year. Lets say I started this in 2000. The legal age that you could buy cigarettes becomes 17 in 2001, 18 in 2002 etc. The older already addicted people could still smoke quite happily until they die, but each year there will be a larger percentage of the population who don't have to go through the process of getting free of this nasty habit. No need to worry about any other smoking inside laws in 2100 as nobody will smoke by then, unless you make 117 years old.
This could be another crazy kev idea. Not that it makes any difference because it will never happen. Unless someone in my jelly baby kingdom starts smoking. I have been wisely informed that sweets don't smoke. Nobody has heard of the smell of sweet smoke then ! :)
I PROMISE NOT TO SMOKE TODAY.
