JDK Thread #17

Hi Kev, I've made it through about half of the playlist and do like what I've heard so far. Thanks for putting it together for me. :) I am finding that I'm only familiar with about half (or less) of what you have there which is good because I'm always looking for new music. Now, while I was searching for the tracks you gave me I kept getting ideas of what I wanted for you (which is why I have only made it through half of your list). Anyway, I have created a playlist for you; Kev's non-smoking playlist. My list is more title based than content based but all good tunes. I hope you like it! Korn Word Up Bullet For My Valentine All These Things I Hate Mudvayne Happy Rise Against Ready to Fall Breaking Benjamin Breath Disturbed Down With The Sickness Godsmack Keep Away Puddle of Mudd Control Megadeth Symphny of Destruction Mudvayne Determined The Offspring Bad Habit Slipknot Before I Forget Candlebox Far Behind Have a great day! I promise not to smoke today. Penguin, my line of work involves talking to people who think the world has ended on a daily basis, aka I look after computer applications :) Not much imagination required, often a lot of patience and an abilty to bite your own tounge. ESP is mandatory however :) Your job sounds much more exciting to be honest. Brain surgery? en passant means quite simply bypass I believe. Maybe heart surgery then? I am always glad the humour comes out. The reason for why I put smokefree could never checkmate junkie is because I was told here that you are always an addict, just a recovering one. Something like that anyway. But I do prefer your version better. Maybe a game of chess a day! I like it penguin, we'll go for that. Now do I have to 'Appendectomy en passant' this to my analogy? :) It is only after quitting that I found i had a passion for writing. I'd never be a professional writer (for overuse of brackets and other writing no-no's). Although I do often find myself going 'It is loose as in change and lose as in weight' :) I am glad my humour makes others laugh, laughing is good for the soul. You have imagination Penguin btw, just open notepad and write about something that you are passionate about. Maybe have a cup of tea then come back to it. I would not advise going for a smoke instead. It seems to dullen the emotions apparently. By writing and writing and writing you can make that imagination fly, just like all birds can. Yes, even penguins. Anyway enough from me (that means I will be writing again in a minute no doubt). From one July Firecracker/Extinguisher to another. July seemingly was a quiet month! Hey Kev Loved the Chess Analogy. I am amazed at your creativity, and imagination...I possess little. Not sure what you do for a living, but you are in the wrong business, me thinks. One problem I have though...not being able to check-mate on the Junkie. I understand why you have that in there, but I would prefer to think I check-mate every day! Also, would you believe that I have in my work used en-passant, as in Appendectomy en passant. Keep on writing my friend, because if someone can make me laugh, they must be very funny. Kelly, Cool. I'll look forward to seeing if I got your music taste sorted. :) Unhooked, all in the bath, yes. Though I spent too long in there as my fingers went all pruney!! :) What can I say, it was nice and warm in there and freezing outside :) :) Aloha, I am just thinking about you surfing in the middle of december! :) Nice warm water all year round. Mmm nice. I'm going to have to investigate this changes of seasons thing. Somewhere in the world there has got to be a place where they don't get seasons. I know some places have no words in their language for snow and in others they have 25! Brizzle? Ah thats drizzly snow. (Makes you go brrrr). The junkie is back in the box for the time being. Yippee. Telling it I have permission from my no smoking friends to write did an amazing trick. On the not going outside with my smoking workmates, its a bit of limbo type thing. I got used to smoke breaks as it was a step away from the computer (a health and safety thing). Sometimes I go get a tea, sometimes I count the pens in the stationary cupboard. Mostly I write and write and write posts here. I am sure the Health & Safety manual didn't say, in order to ensure you get 5 mins break from the computer screen, go and damage your health by smoking. Unhooked, my analogy? it didn't work too well. I found it is very difficult to explain what you go through to a life long non smoker. Especially if you don't understand chess either :) Maybe the short version is (reverts to caveman) 'Quitting very very hard, but smoking bad so music voucher better' :) Actually it was something similar I used to explain why rewards are so important. 'Kev junkie want smoke so bad (like now), so music voucher take mind off struggles' Thats because i got the 'HOW MUCH???' questions from my dad when shoppping and thought to myself that maybe I will just be a closet music voucher buyer instead of a closet smoker. My lifestyle is often driven around the fear of what others (esp family) think. Actually Saturday was really an upturn in getting a lot sorted. I don't feel like I have bombed a country made up of entirely cute bunny rabbits everytime I mention music vouchers now. Plus the same goes for slipping, though I hope not to do that. ttin, Cool. I'll be checking up on how the quilt is going btw. And a big hug to you too. Freemom, Nice to see you check in! Glad all is going well. Hope you checked the stats section. You were not forgotten :) Right, onto my musings for today : The legal age to buy cigarettes has increased from 16 to 18. Which sounds a much better idea. In line with drinking and voting etc. I may have mentioned before but girls around here are very successful at looking a lot older than they are. If I was a shopkeeper I would have a heck of time working out if they were legally able to buy smokes. Of course, for some, it'll make no difference at all. As has been the same with drink for years. I often wondered what I would do if I was in control of all these laws. Everything seems to need to be instant nowadays. Like making up for lost time. OK, banning cigarettes would seem an extreme measure as I would be cutting off a main source of income. So how about, when I was told that cigarettes were really definitely bad for us, set a rule up that the legal age of smoking increases by one year every year. Lets say I started this in 2000. The legal age that you could buy cigarettes becomes 17 in 2001, 18 in 2002 etc. The older already addicted people could still smoke quite happily until they die, but each year there will be a larger percentage of the population who don't have to go through the process of getting free of this nasty habit. No need to worry about any other smoking inside laws in 2100 as nobody will smoke by then, unless you make 117 years old. This could be another crazy kev idea. Not that it makes any difference because it will never happen. Unless someone in my jelly baby kingdom starts smoking. I have been wisely informed that sweets don't smoke. Nobody has heard of the smell of sweet smoke then ! :) I PROMISE NOT TO SMOKE TODAY. Hey, Kev! You're the one who rocks, my friend! I can't tell you how much I enjoy your posts. You and all the others help me so much. I wish I had half of your sense of humor! I read where you were on the ledge and then successfully came back down from the ledge. I agree with the others that this is what we're here for. To share and support eachother. When I was talking about those lights I follow to Unhooked, I was thinkng of you too. A great big hug for you! :) ttin. Enjoyed that a lot, Kev. What'd your dad think? Nice to hear you taking control back and getting off the ledge for an exhilirating walk. You almost made me miss cold weather, for the joy of a warm bath afterwards. Almost being the operative word there ;) Have a wonderful smoke free Monday, and find something fun to do instead of freezing your butt off outside with the smokers. Give your quit buddy a hug of sympathy and then let her quit be hers, okay? I promise to not smoke today -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 192 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,680 Amount Saved: $1,305.60 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 20 Mins: 27 Seconds: 49

Great analogy, Kev. Very entertaining. I especially like Chill and his choice in music. lol. Very funny, you are. I had completely forgotten to go back to your last thread and copy the playlist so I have done that. I have also copied this one and plan to spend some time this evening checking them both out. I'll let you know what I think. I do need a good playlist for when I work out on the eliptical. Anything to distract me from the pain! Glad you enjoyed Rise Against! They are one of my favorites right now. Have a great day, Kev. I promise not to smoke if you don't. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,080 Amount Saved: $210.60 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 6 Mins: 7 Seconds: 51

Hopefully this will work. I am not as technically minded as you lot. :) To the left there should be a happy smiling girl with ponytails. This is my little one for Lolo as it reminds me of her picture where she is smiling in the kitchen. If it isn't then I am still having technical difficulties. Just to let you know that I am thinking of you and hoping you are doing ok. Like me, you always change your stats if something goes a bit awry. Hope you're not suffering in silence. Feel free to shout on here. If you are then (big hugs) and if you're not (big hugs) anyways :) Lolo always gets big hugs from me. Don't worry be happy.
