Hi Lolo, One thing i do when my thoughts are driving me nuts is i go back to the roots of why i quit: HEALTH. Since i'm mostly a visual person, i like to search the internet for some videos on quitting smoking. I just looked at 2 today that really hit a cord in me and makes me HATE cigarettes even more than ever. Here are the names of those videos: 1.) Lung cancer: Throught my children's eyes (there's 3 parts in this one.) 2.) Tobaco: You killed my mom. Believe me these put some sense into me :) Hopes this helps My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 540 Amount Saved: $216.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 22 Mins: 49 Seconds: 6

Ohhhh, we aren't supposed to act on the "smack my husband with a skillet" thoughts either???? Well, that explains a few things. Thanks, Rusty! Hey, Lolo. You're looking good! Bear has a point but sometimes thos thoughts seem very much right now, don't they? One thing you can try is right is the title of your thread. Just say, "go away. I don't smoke so I don't think about smoking." Cold water out of a nozzly thing & chewing coffee straws helped me IMMENSELY. Try aloha's trick of turning the junkie lie into the truth. For example, "You can have just one, you'll feel better" is lie. "One will lead to a pack, & smoking will never make anything better." is the truth. Read & post here. You know there are lots of really awesome posts right in this forum. Aloha's "junkie thinking" & "insertions wanted" are excellent. There are lots more. Of course, Shout WOOHOO!! cause you can't feel bad when you're shouting WOOHOO!! Read, watch a movie, go to bed. Invite someone you like onto a balcony. Recognize the junkie when she shows up & tell her to kiss your ash BRFORE she even has a chance to start whispering those thoughts at you. What I mean is, know your trigger situations and get ready for them before they happen. Not even having the thought because you beat the junkie is the most confidence-inspiring feeling! Hope that helps, Lolo! You're doing great, we're proud of you. All you have to do now is what you're doing! WOOHOO!! I garden or go to the beach, but that last probably isn't helpful for you. Point being, I get active. Or come here...read and post. Read a book that captures my mind.
