H, it's okay to think about smoking. In fact, it's normal. But in your logical, rational mind you know that it won't change the situation. It will just create other problems for you. Hang in there. Cigarettes Not Smoked

H, Just read this and I'll say a pray for you....(for sure) Hang in there. Not smoking is the best thing you can do for you. I understand why you are thinking about it. It was the only thing we knew that "SEEMED" to make things better. It really didn't make things better. It only seemed that way because it ended our "internal" craving for nicotine. We translated it falsely that an issue got better...because we "felt" better. You are doing so good Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 186 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,720 Amount Saved: $831.42 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 12 Mins: 0 Seconds: 7

H, Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Facing the possibility of losing a parent is one of the biggest stressors out there. We would encourage you to start developping some new coping skills such as journalling, physical activity, talking to a friend, whatever you think may work for you. Smoking is not the answer. H First off, congratulations on your 29th day. It will be a month tomorrow!!! And as such, you have earned a N.O.P.E. hot air balloon ride at the location of your choice. What'll it be? Your increased urges may partly be due to nearing this milestone. Also, as we go through this quit process, when we are faced with situations where we nromally would have used a cigarette to soothe us, reward ourselves, or avoid unpleasant situations or feelings, we often experience stronger urges. So, it may be that dealing with the feelings you have surrounding your mother's illness is leading you to feel stronger urges. In the past you may have smoked in an effort to avoid those feelings, so it is natural that you are automatically wanting one now. However, smoking will not alleviate your pain and worry, all that will have changed will be you will have smoked. Now is an opportunity to find other ways of dealing with the sadness and worry. Is there any kind of support group at the hospital? Can you write about what you are feeling? Could you make a collage or scrapbook of your mother's life or your memories of her to share with her? My loving thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Please don't smoke. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 125 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,000 Amount Saved: $850.00 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 12 Mins: 21 Seconds: 56

Hang in there H! I know where you are at, and I know you don't want to smoke, just remember smoking won't make anything better, it will just make it all worse. Your Mom is probably proud of you for quitting, so hang to that for her! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 142 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,550 Amount Saved: $1,498.10 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 9 Mins: 55 Seconds: 23

You are in a real tough situation and I feel for you. I am not having to deal with family health issues, but I did quit around the same time as you. Some of it may not be family issues but just that thirty day thing. I have wanted to smoke VERY badly for the last two days and I am just praying it will pass. I do not know right now if I would be as strong as you are in this situation. You should be real proud of yourself. Smoking won't make anything better though. Smoking is not magic (i have to remind myself of that ALL the time) and you will still be having a tough day if you smoke, plus feel even worse that you gave up on yourself. My thoughts are with you and hope you make it through your pretty bad day. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 540 Amount Saved: $148.50 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 5 Seconds: 35

I'm still worried for my mom who is very sick and probably not make it through the summer. Today. I thought about smoking all day, and I mean all day. No I didn't smoke though, but I thought about it. I went outside where people I work with smoke but I think that smelling the second hand smoke may have helped. Is that stupid. I'm going home to see my mom now so see you tomorrow.
