Thanks Nance, Hopefully some time tonight I will get back from the edge. I'll read and re-read the below thread. Try to think positive thoughts. I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow or I will continue posting tonight. Depends how much I manage to chill out at home. No, I don't think you have cracked up. However your quit doesn't depend on hers! Yours is yours, hers is hers, you may have different motivations, coping mechanisms, and anxiety levels, but the results will be the same. You will both be healthier! You are not doing badly. You are doing the program. There is no bad or good, you have 12 days down...and that's pretty good, don't you think? Look at the positives instead of the negatives, and don't analyze it too deeply. She may experience some anxiety when she least expects it and she will count on you for support. I am sure you have read that sometimes the old demon just appears from nowhere. You are obviously ready for combat, so even if she caves YOU WON'T! Keep doing what you are doing because it is working. Post, read, post, read, post, read. Your quit buddy doesn't have all of us at the SSC helping her climb the mountain, but you do. Maybe she should join us? Nance, don't worry too much about my earlier post, I am working things out in my head. The quit jealousy is a weird thing. Let me explain my fears in word form. Lets see... Right, I have a quit buddy who is doing so well, although I am 2 days ahead of her, I suffer from insane jealousy of how well mentally she is holding up and how very badly I am doing. The fear is that the only reason I am doing this still is because she has not restarted smoking. Weird thing is that it is actually a major major factor in me still being quit that I hadn't expected and accounted for. If she gave up on her quit, I would light up in an instant. Thats a reoccuring thought in my head. The logical thought in my head goes something along the lines 'Don't start smoking again, thats a really stupid thing to be doing'. Hence the battle still rages inside my head at a constant rate. That said, I am still here and I am deep breathing every 15 mins at the moment. Hope that makes some sense. What do you reckon? Have I already cracked up? Kevin, If you don't remember the plot.....RE READ the book! Don't give up on yourself....I haven't given up on you. Hold my hand if you need to! Quit jealousy? Explain that one, please! Hi Nance, WOW. You always know what to post at the right time. I wonder if all moms have a natural gift in this department?! Hopefully tomorrow will be better for me. I am losing the plot and can't remember why I am putting myself through this. Currently it seems to be quit jealousy! Not a good thing to have. Hurray for Kev! A short recap: I see you took the pledge to post here and wait ten minutes before you smoke. Excellent! You completed hell week, and are almost through heck week! You rock! You have confronted many of your triggers, and overcome each of them so far! Great job! You are continuing to identify triggers and utilize your coping skills to overcome them. Fantastic! You make a daily writtten promise your SSC friends and your quit buddy that you will not smoke today! Way to go! Look at all you have accomplished...and the best part??? It's working!!! You have 11 days (almost 12) days smoke-free! Just keep doing everything you are doing. You are AWESOME! Congratulations Kevin, flash those stats and be proud of what you are doing! xoxoxo Nance My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 159 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,770 Amount Saved: $771.15 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 4 Mins: 29 Seconds: 15

Sue...Ouch, well I am glad you made it through! The confrontation idea was my doctors. I am glad I did it but yes it could have gone very wrong. It turns out that family meals are very strong triggers so I spent most of last night horizontal listening to chillout inbetween courses. Another one that I had not realised was that a place is a trigger! I should really avoid watching programs about Glasgow. Having never been to glasgow I have no idea why. Am trying to work that one out. This is day 12 I think now. Only two days away from the end of heck week. I know it is also a very high pressure week, so I will be continuing my babystep approach, hence..I promise to SSC and my quit buddy that I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY. Btw, I did actually do some running yesterday, with hangover. Thanks for reminding me about the exercise thing. well done Kev :) John was like that, dragged me to a smokey bar on day 10 of our quit. I was so pissed at him I was in tears. He wanted to confront every trigger head on. We survived :) I am glad you did too :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 80 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 800 Amount Saved: $140.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 15 Mins: 46 Seconds: 18

Hi Kev. I couldn't be happier for you. I know you wanted to test yourself, and as you can see, many of us questioned that wisdom. But you must feel a great sense of accomplishment. I hope your arm is aching from patting yourself on the back! You deserve it! You did it! Thanks for the daily promise. I have another fishing trip coming up in a couple weeks, somehwere around your 25th day. Until then, I am right here, cheering you on! You rock, my friend, well done!
