16 years ago 0 1543 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Soooooooooooooo (as the goat waits in great anticipation)....how did day 4 go? Keep your eyes on your stats. It adds a little excitment to see them grow. Look how far you have come. A blink of an eye ago you were day 2!!! Pretty soon you will be day 5. You start out counting hours....than days... than weeks...and then months. I'm counting months. A nother week or so I will turn 6 months. The time does go by seamus. Get some time on your side. Seamus, I'll cry with you. We have all felt just like you. We are living proof it can be done. It doesn't go on forever...but the damage smoking will do to you will go on and on and on. Addiction will make all the logical reasons go right out the window. It will talk you into anything. If you stick this out they will begin to make sense again. Think with me. There is NOTHING you can't do without cigarettes. Absolutely nothing. It is all a lie. You don't have to give up ANYTHING in life.....but smoke. Smoking isn't necessary to do any of the enjoyable things in our everday living. I have blown my share of quits. Please believe me....blowing a quit is worse than the craves. First... your loaded with quilt so you don't even enjoy (if that's what you call it) the blasted thing. Then your mouth taste terrible and your fingers smell..along with your clothes. So.....your go wash your hands and freshen up and guess what? It solved nothing as in about a half hour your right back where you were. Wanting another one. Your gonna crave either way...except if you smoke it will go on and on....so you mise well crave for a few days and get done with it. Keep posting. We're here for you. Mercy ps: if your mind is tired out from thinking about this....here is a tip that worked for me. Kick back and put a movie on. You escape reality for a couple of hours and it gives your mind a much needed rest. You all are wonderful......... Carlos, how are you on your quit buddy? Lamplighter, Thank you very much. I am going to hang onto your line, "You feel pain, grief, nervousness? You feel like you're going out of your mind? Are you shakey? Does you stomach bother you? Can't sleep? So what? None of that is going to kill you. The cigarettes will kill you." Thank you for that. It is very direct and straight to the point. That is why I love it so much. I am a very straight forward person and I don't believe in beating around the bush. Thank you. I needed to hear that. I am going to head in to work now.........i will be on from work from time to time..........Thank you all. So scream, cry, whatever you feel like doing is what you need to do right now. As a man, this is probably the only time in your life as a man where you'll have permisiion to be as emotional as you want, so take advantage! You are doing it, Seamus, even if it doesn't seem like it. You haven't smoked & that makes you quit. Seamus, forget the reasons to stay quit. The addict will counter every reason you have with some bogus rationalization. You've committed to doing this... so do it. That's the way you have to approach this. You knew going in what your reasons were, and they were good reasons... but don't look to them now. Just know that you believed they were good enough... and now you are going to act on them... no matter what. No matter whether the reasons now seem good enough, no matter how bad you feel, no matter how terrified you are of a life without cigs. You won't die without a cig, and that's all that matters. You feel pain, grief, nervousness? You feel like you're going out of your mind? Are you shakey? Does you stomach bother you? Can't sleep? So what? None of that is going to kill you. The cigarettes will kill you.
