Everybody who congratulated me for getting thru an awful ( & actually kind of funny) experience, the kudos belong to Delayette. Is it just me, or does the original page of Anger and Quitting not load for anyone else? Way to Go, Delayette!!!!! You're finding other ways to deal with your stress. Having a cig won't help, it will just make you feel lousy. Sue, lol at your story...sometimes the return of the sense of smell is not such a good thing, eh? -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,320 Amount Saved: $394.40 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 4 Mins: 9 Seconds: 53

Wow delayette be PROUD! To have that bad of a time on Day 4 and not grab one of those cigarettes is awesome. If you haven't been rewarding yourself, now is the time :) This post Anger and Quitting Smoking may shed some light on why the irritability happens and what to do about it. It will get better as the others have said and all of these things are big steps to your freedom. (If the link above doesn't work, do a search on the title) Keep up the great quit! Delayette, it will pass, for me and Dh it took about 10 days, during most of those days we took my visiting Mum to the beach, where even though 80 degree sunny weather was forecasted we had a nor'easter, 60 mph winds, rain, crappy weather. We were tense. the car ride was the worst. You could cut the tension with a knife. I was dying and wondering how I was going to survive. Poor Mum. the worst was after we picked up the cats, 5 mins from home, my very upset 9 yr old cat poops in his carrier, never done this before, and all of a sudden we get trapped in a construction delay, windows are down we are spraying air fresher in the car, everyone is holding their breathe, it stinks, poor Mum is sitting right beside the carrier, both cats are meowing, my phone rings, DH looks at me and comments - this is a cigarette moment huh? I went home and had a drink. whew. It seemed like that whole 10 days was crap. In retrospect we lost our coping mechanism, cigarettes and had to come up with a new one. Deep breathing really helps, exercise, we walked alot, your sense of smell and taste should be coming back now, and soon you will feel alot better. Today I got a post from this board that I have 30% of my lung function back - now that is happy news. I hope you are doing better. Delayette, Congratulations! You showed those cigarettes who was boss! Irritability is a common withdrawal symptom among quitters and as your fellow quitters mentionned, it will get easier as time passes. Pick up a reward if your mood is in need of a lift. You deserve it for all your hard work. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Good for you Unhooked. Remember one day at a time. I warned everyone when I quit that if they valued their life they would be smart and stay out of my way. You will come back down to earth soon trust me. Hang in there you are doing great :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 57 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,140 Amount Saved: $370.50 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 3 Mins: 21 Seconds: 40

Bravo Unhooked! Good for you! That's the way to do it! You passed a big test! You are on your way and you will make it! I had to remind myself lots of times, to relax and calm down. The irritability can get to you if you let it! Stay positive as best you can and you will get thru this! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,825 Amount Saved: $770.15 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 23 Mins: 52 Seconds: 7
