It's not so hard

To be honest, I don't know what Chantix is. Allison, thank you for your kind words. Everyone, thank you for your kind words. If there is a supplement out there that helps you quit smoking then that is great, at least you aren't smoking. That is the key. I quit cold turkey simply because I tried to quit from other supplements before and it always led to the same crap: me feeding their addiction by going back to smoking, me buying a ton of stupid ways of trying to try to quit. It really seems stupid but you'll be laughing at yourself and what I had to say after you quit. Dovo and Allison I hope neither of you took offense at my earlier post. I am impressed that both of you returned the cigarettes! Dovo, Good plan! That's what I'm planning with my savings too.....travel!!! Ya know, I used the Chantix for only 3 weeks. I truly loved it, but I was sooo sick to my stomach that I couldn't function enough to even go to work, so, I haven't taken it since. I felt much better within 2 days of quitting it, and still the withdrawals are not that bad. Mine is most psychological I think. When I get in the car I automatically role the window down about 3 inches and then it hits me.........NO CIGARETTES!!!! I manage but sometimes I just have to laugh because why would anyone miss such a terrible habit. BUT I DO! Obviously, not enough to buy a pack (and keep it) but it is amazing how you can "justify" things in your mind. Anyway, this site has really provided a lot of insight and help and I truly appreciate everyone's posts, sometimes just reading for 10 minutes makes the urge to smoke a little more tolerable. Thanks!

Allison Dear, You have done the hardest part. If you want to not smoke, don't you can get this done. Convince yourself that smoking is not an option. If you can tell yourself that there is no such things as a cigarette. Whatever works for you, don't smoke. You do want this Allison. Dovo Nice thought process, good job on 87 days!

Well alohakeia, I'm not sure. But if I had to guess, I'd bet there are a lot more cases of people buying packs and smoking them rather than returning them. As far as what I'm doing with all my saved cash? Vacation vacation vacation! I've always wanted to see Anchorage. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 87 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,512 Amount Saved: $565.5 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 19 Mins: 51 Seconds: 26

Dovo laughing at the mental image of you and Allsion buying smokes and returning them right away...makes me wonder how often that happens. Congratulations on how well you're doing! And good for you for updating how much you've saved...now what are you going to do for yourself with all that extra money? Allison, in my opinion, you nailed it right on the head. With your kids your "mind" would never allow you to knowingly bring harm to them. Now your "mind" is working overtime telling you it's ok, no harm no foul. I posted yesterday about resigning yourself to the fact that you don't smoke anymore....in the dictionary resign means: to give (oneself) over without resistance 2: to give up deliberately See...it is all in our heads! Keep up the good work both of you!!! I haven't been quit that long but only recently have I "wanted" to buy some. I have talked myself into the fact that maybe it isn't that bad....only to eventually snap back into reality. I, too, have driven to the store bought a pack and also, exchanged it for candy. I am proud of my 21 days but wonder how long the desire to smoke will last. I quit while pregnant with both of my children and never craved one during the entire pregnancy. I think that in my mind smoking was not an option then but that is not the case now. Congratulations on your 87 days. THAT IS AWESOME!!!!
