I take trips, to see my kids, to hear music, pretty soon to see friends I hope. Also, I make little impulse buys I usually wouldn't, but I can now because I'm not spending money every day on cigs. When I do I make sure to remind myself that it is because I am not smoking. That's a great plan, Jodi. Not very expensive, easy to do & symbolic. Very creative. I've rewarded myself in all kinds of ways, big & small. Everything from chocilate to books to concert tickets to a new computer. The important thing is that you do it in a way that's meaningful to you. For my 1 month reward, my best friends took me out for a nice lunch and I bought myself a bouquet of Autumn flowers. When I got to 2 months, I bought a Poinettia. I plan to buy myself a bouquet of seasonal flowers every month on the 15th to remind myself of how beautiful and sweet smelling being a nonsmoker is. How do you all reward yourselves??? Alohakeia, Thanks for the bump! This is a great thread! It really is important to reflect on your quit and reward yourself. Brenna, Bilingual Support Specialist

one i don't remember seeing before i like that idea of taking a few minutes every day to reflect on how wonderful this quit is. if you think about how much time was taking up with smoking, you will find you have a whole lot of time to do that, or whatever else you want to do (smoking a cig = 5-7 minutes x number of cigs smoked per day = one to two hours per day). Oh, and freedom...if you're still planning a trip to hawaii, let me know, okay? I just checked out my Quit Meter and I'm a little more than half way there to getting my massage. Why is it that the first thing that comes to mind as an adult generally revolves around food or liquor? LOL Remember when you were a kid and getting a sticker was awesome! Especially if it was the scratch n sniff (pizza was my favorite). This is a great thread. Getting serious...my reward to myself is counting the money I've saved and getting myself a needed massage that I would cringe to pay for since they are so expensive. Funny how you don't think twice about spending the money on the cigs but refuse to spend the same amount on a deep tissue massage that helps you from pulling a neck muscle every three months. Go figure!?
