I used the NRT gum. I started with the 4mg, and then after 8 weeks or so went to the 2mg, and am still chewing it. I haven't had a cig, but then again I'm still getting the nicotine, and I am now addicted to the gum! My plan is to ween myself off of the gum now. I found that cinamin gum helps best for between NRT gum chews. I don't think I could have quit without the gum, and now I'm going to have to quit the NRT gum. Is there no end to this stupid addiction???? I'm sure everyone would have never picked up that first cig had they known what it would be like to quit. Congrats to everyone and Happy Holidays! Don't drink too much egg nog:-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/15/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 97 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,465 Amount Saved: $388 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 22 Mins: 51 Seconds: 47

I quit cold turkety, and this site. I have quit so many times. I have used Wellbutrin, patches, gum, hypnosis, and any other thing I could find. However, they we all temporary quits. (Maybe I just wasn't ready). With the help of this site I have finally been able to quit. No gimmicks, no games, just stopped smoking. I believe the most important thing is wanting to quit and having a strong support system. Thank you SSC for helping me become a non smoker! Patches for me - I think that we have to be prepared for a rough ride at the beginning no matter what our method. However, they did certainly ease the physical withdrawal while I dealt with the IMPORTANT issues related to my emotional issues about smoking. I also read Allan Carr and plan to read him again. This was very important to help change how I looked at smoking. This is my fifth quit. In the previous 4 quits, I tried (and failed): - Cold turkey (twice) - NRT gums - Zyban I did not try the NRT patches because I thought I did not need a constant supply of nicotine during my quit. Following the suggestion of an ex-smoker friend, I use an NRT inhaler (1 cartridge per day) for this quit, and occasionally, quarters of NRT lozenge (2 mg) when the cravings are too strong to bear. So far so good! :) Cheers, nmc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 99 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 992 Amount Saved: $495 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 10 Mins: 29 Seconds: 45

Restarting my quit on Jan. 1. Used the patches before, but this time my doctor's adding Zyban to the mix. Heard this combination has a high success rate. Still know I have to put my own "elbow grease" into it, just need to take the edge off. I'm hearing lots of things about Chantix, but from what I hear, its not available in Canada yet. What ever works for each individual is the way to do it! Doesn't matter how you go about it as long as you succeed!!! There are many different ways to make a beautiful sponge cake, but only one way to EAT it! Failing twice gave me intense motovation. I quit Cold Turkey because I just wanted to be done with it. I wanted all nicotine out of my body as soon as it could be. Plus I was scared of spending money on something that did not work. I thought it was another crutch.(Just my opinion for myself) Grace My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 116 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,331 Amount Saved: $464 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 7 Mins: 7 Seconds: 29
