Totally with QM on this one: closets are for shoes, not people. Pre-or post-op, don't you think it's time to let people love you (or not) for who you really are? I'd embrace the daylight on this one, and let it lead you into a permanently smoke-free life. Best wishes on a great start! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 694 Amount Saved: $71.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 10 Mins: 19 Seconds: 33

Glad to see you're doing so well. Good timing for the surgery and time to quit for good. Come here and now you are "out of the closet". I think that will help you. How on earth could he not know?!?! The smell itself would give it away, I would think! Like Rusty said, if he's that clueless, then he's not going to notice anyway. Don't worry about it. The key is going to be that you keep your quit even AFTER your surgery. Don't just quit for the surgery! You'll be fine. Just remember N.O.P.E. Crave the Quit! I did that also---body spray and gum or mints. Also used alcohol hand sanitizer before I would walk in the house. One day I had just walked in from work and hubby started sniffing---asked if I had been drinking! HAHA. Smelled the hand cleaner, not the smoke! My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,217 Amount Saved: $512 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 14 Mins: 51 Seconds: 13

You sound like me! I have struggled with quitting off and on now for 6 months. Hubby quit no problem. Would go awhile quit, closet smoke, quit again, closet smoke..... What a yo-yo! Everytime I got down to the low dose patch, I would start smoking. This time I weaned off patches into Chantix. I've been two days nicotine free. First time in 34 years :) BTW-Your husband knew you were sneaking one atleast on ocassion. That's a hard thing to hide for very long. Well you are not alone on this one :p When I first tried to quit my husband quit also. I just couldn't do it. So I would send him to the store and while he was gone I would smoke. I would wait until he was asleep and get up and have one. Need to run errands, had one. On and on and on. I did finally tell him and he was surprised, why I don't know. Other I use a lot of body spray and mouth wash and gum. Whatever it took I found a way to smoke. Now whatever it takes I going to find away to stay stopped. Glad to see you here.
